It's ALL About the Food (We go to WDW to eat and drink!!) ~ October 2009 TR

Three weeks from right now Bob and I should be happily ensconced in the World Showcase eating and drinking till we groan. And then we get to meet Laura (RachelTori) and her friends for dinner at Chefs de France. Only 3 weeks! 14 teaching days. :)

Hmmm...not that you're counting or anything...:lmao:-now you're actually getting closer to 2 weeks!...:goodvibes

I am ordering the discounted tickets tonight when I get home from my studio. I think we will have no problem upgrading. Especially when I tell them I plan to come back twice before the end of the year! And I am bringing more people with me! :rotfl: ;)

They should upgrade you...especially since you are bring them more guests (victims) to be turned into Disney-a-philes...:lmao:

:goodvibes awwwww... but I we will be there in spirit! Toasting you in tandem with Rosa Regale. Might have to go find myself a fun little cake too!

What is Rosa Regale...I've seen it mentioned before and I was curious...?:confused3

Well, not that I am counting or anything... but... three weeks from today we will be at Kouzzina for breakfast, I have the Concha yToro wine seminar at noon and we are eating at Raglan Road that evening! Not that I am keeping trask, you know. ;)

I agree! Although, all the additional guests we will be bringing, traveling with or meeting are already certified DisManiacs! :lmao:

Oh, me, oh my...
Banfi_Rosa_Regale.jpg

It is a red sparkling wine by the Italian winery called Banfi. It is on the sweet side (which I usually don't like) and can be drunk any time. It is spectacular with chocolate!

It's also really good with artisan cheeses. :thumbsup2

In our area it retails for about $20 per bottle; the hubby and I really like it.

We are lucky - Wegmans has it for $15 every day! Or so it has been the past couple of months!

OMG- Wegmans:sad1: Even in Southern California- land of awesome food and awesome food stores I dream of Wegmans. I'm gonna go cry into some taquitos...

Three weeks from today we will be eating at Sci-Fi for the very first time. We also have the Wishes Dessert Buffet booked for that evening and I have a wine seminar to attend.

Why is it that myBob doesn't have much input for our WDW trips until plans are made and laid?? Yesterday he took a look at the menus for the restaurants that I had printed out for him WEEKS ago and started making noises about where we were going to eat.

So, after sitting on the patio stewing a bit, I came back in and talked to him and found out that he thinks we are not spending enough time at the F&W kiosks. Why didn't he say so before?? We missed a lot last year because of all our ADRs and I asked him months ago if he had minded that. He had a very non-committal response so I went on my merry way doing what I wanted and never gave it another thought.

After 36 years of marriage, we have reached the ability to compromise a little. ;) We looked at all our ADRs and started eliminating some of them. We were meeting friends at Tusker House one day for lunch and he suggested Flame Tree instead. He said we could eat when we wanted to and not be rushed to get to the one F&W seminar he is doing. Since he seems excited about that Jim Beam Spirit Seminar that afternoon, I checked with our friends and they graciously agreed to the change.

One heated conversation was over bluezoo and Flying Fish. We have never eaten at either of these and I was excited to try them both on this trip. myBob pointed out that we were eating at Kouzzina too, so that was actually three new spots for a 7 day trip. (Guess he missed that we are eating twice at Kouzzina - once for breakfast and once for dinner :rotfl2: ). We are also headed to Chefs de France for the first time in 10 years, so he counts that as new too. When I pushed to find out what his real concerns were he opened up (I hate that we don't speak the same language, even though we are more or less the same species). He doesn't want to risk having a number of expensive meals that he doesn't like. He pointed out, correctly so, that I will be happy with the menus and what is brought out at just about any restaurant, but that he will not. I agreed that he was right. So... compromise. We canceled bluezoo and kept Flying Fish. We moved a couple of ADRs around and spread them out better over the week. We also agreed that we will adjust that ADR list on the fly at WDW if either one of us is not happy.

And now, since he pointed out some spectacular CS spots we haven't eaten at or have skipped for a few years, so are seriously thinking that the QSDP might be a good option for us. I have some additional number crunching to do, but luckily we can add the plan later. We are looking at Wolfgang Puck both for breakfast and dinner. He liked the variety. We are looking at Sunshine Seasons for both too. There is the added bonus of refillable mugs and 24 snack credits to use at the F&W Festival looming out there too.

TIW will still be used for TS meals but I need to figure out costs for those CS spots. Wish me luck!

We tend to make ourselves ADR crazy too and this year we're nixing a lot so we can dedicate more time to eating at the kiosks in Epcot. Sounds like you guys have a good plan of attack.

That's why I love to go solo so much, I don't need to compromise on my ADR's with anybody. :rotfl:

I think the CS DDP might be a good idea though. The snack credits would be really helpful to have. Except every year I worry that Disney will stop offering the F&W items as snack credits.

Sigh...that sounds lovely...unfortunately I will have to check to see if our state stores carry...you see here in the Keystone State-we have a rather antiquated system in which the State of Pa in their infinite wisdom operates the stores that carry wine/& spirits.(our Wegman's or Whole Foods can't sell wine)..which means amongst many other things that we are dependent on the state's choice in wine...:confused3

(We make it a point on our out of state forays to bring back several...;) bottles as souvenirs...ie. when we go to NY, or DC, or NJ or DE or Alexandria next month...:lmao:

You have to love husbands...is it something about the Y chromosome? I make plans-"oh yeah honey-whatever you want-and then all of a sudden...hmm "why are we..." I' starting to believe they can't help it...:confused3

ahhh...Kouzzina breakfast...I have high hopes for Kouzzina-it'll be interesting to see what you think...

Interesting change of plan. I can understand YourBob's reasoning, but I agree that it would have been nice to have gotten that input a few months earlier!! :goodvibes I guess you need to do the math on the QSDP. Personally I don't see the value in it as I never get desserts at QS meals...

I'm in PA too. They have it at one of the state stores in my area.

And I am originally from PA too! I have seen Rosa Regale at some of the state stores in western PA. Good luck, Patricia!

Compromise like that is how you've stayed married for 36 years :goodvibes

TIW can be used at Flame Tree.:thumbsup2

I love Sunshine Seasons but breakfast is nothing special there.

Mawage:hug: I'm glad you guys worked it out. It could be fun to check out some CS places. Sunshine Seasons is my favorite CS location, but since I'm traveling solo I got to go crazy on ADRs and food booth planning. Your planning is much wiser.:flower3:

That's why I love to go solo so much, I don't need to compromise on my ADR's with anybody. :rotfl:

It can??? Wow, wonder why? But, thanks, Bernadette!

Sunshine Seasons is a CS spot we can get to easily from BCV that serves a "big" breakfast, as we call it here. myBob likes scrambled eggs and MEAT for breakfast when we are on vacation. Mind you, he usually skips breakfast at home... :confused3 :rotfl2:

Three weeks from today will be a fairly easy one. We plan to spend some time at the pool and I have 2 wine seminars to attend. Dinner will be at Kouzzina!
