I have a very cool CountDown program that I have up on my desktop all the time. Anything of import to me is entered in that thing so I can get a quick rush of butterfly wings when necessary. :goodvibes

We decided to cancel our DDP for this trip. Since I had lots of "extra time" on my hands this week I did some cost analysis and confirmed that sticking with our Tables in Wonderland (TiW) discount would be the best way for us to go. We like to share an appetizer and a dessert. We drink at every meal we possibly can. 20% off everything is a good deal. So, that is how we will go!

That's the same conclusion we end up reaching. :thumbsup2

Elin,

:goodvibes

Your time calculations brought a huge smile to my face...as I wondered if you did those calculations mentally/by hand...or if you had some kind of app you used...

You must be getting excited...

(btw-I've looked at the F&W link several times...really good stuff...I should print it or try to get a hard copy-it would be great bedtime reading...)

btw... I noticed under your avatar...that you live in Fredericksburg,---that's below Alexandria isn't it? (I think...did Washington's family live there when he was young...I'll bet it is charming...)

Patricia - If you PM me your full name and address I will pick up a Festival Bulletin for you and send it when I get home. Then you can look all you want! :)

Fredericksburg is south of Alexandria... actually we are midway between DC and Richmond, VA. It is a wonderful spot and the Washington family (as well as the Lees and Monroes) agreed! George spent his childhood tromping around the ground that I live on and his mother lived all her life here. She is buried in our town and my alma mater is named for her: The University of Mary Washington. It is a spectacular place to live and to visit. So, come on down, y'all!! :rotfl2:

You too can have this coundown! It is from a company called Contact Plus Corp. and can be found at contactplus dot com. It used to be a free program but now costs money. I am geeky enough that I was willing to shell out the money for it! :rotfl:

Finally had a chance to read your PTR - what a great-sounding trip you have upcoming. I am just a wee bit jealous of all of your other tickers, too! ;)

Please, for the love of God, have a drink (or two...or three...or.....) for me when you're there! :thumbsup2

:wave2: Hi, Lindsay! Just think of all the trips you have yet to plan with your little one! Hope he is staying put for the moment and you are not feeling too badly.

I will certainly quaff a few in your honor. Maybe in a couple of years we can do another Party for the Senses together! Do you think we could persuade myBob and Jonathan will stay in the room with the baby??? :rotfl2:

One month... four short weeks... from right this minute we will be on a plane bound for Mecca.

I told you that DDP is overrated. ;) Marketing hook is all it is.

Hang in there, Lindsay!

Hi Elin, I have been meaning to say hi on your PTR for quite some while...

I guess you did the right thing on the DDP: sit down and do the math wether it will work for your given trip. I like the advice Mike Scopa always gives on the WDW Today podcast: see where you get an ADR and once you have your dining planned, see wether the DDP is worth it. Katharina and I just had our Friday after work coffee (a tradition if we both are in town for the weekend and have no other plans, so it happens every two months or so...) and discussed the DDP. We figured out that we really aren't interested in desserts that much, so it does not make sense for us.

Just catching up on your trip!

For me the advantage of the DDP is not having to pay while I am there. Mostly just ease of use. :) I think we usually break even. Of course with free dining ~ you can't miss.

I too am a wee bit jealous of your additional tickers!

:welcome: aboard, my friend! How nice to be able to get together with your sister occasionally like that.

I can tell you that if they did away with the desserts on the DDP it would be a no-brainer. We would never even consider it. :rotfl2:

I had an entire response to this typed up and it simply disappeared! But, the gist of it was, the two bookend trips (F&W and Family Christmas) are always there. The little whirlwind trip was a special little surprise to me. A friend has an AKL studio villa booked for two nights. There is a sofa bed. I have an AP and got airfare for under $160. I couldn't NOT go! :rotfl2:

I also like to have the meals paid for in advance, but with the changes to the DDP it no longer covers all we eat or drink, so it is just not the best deal for that anymore either.

DH and I are going to Alexandria for a couple of nights in October-we wanted a little R&R and NY or DC would just be too full of distractions...Fredericksburg sounds like a place I'd love too...(next summer I want to take the kids on a little road trip through VA and down into NC so I'm just tucking away different ideas...

I'd LOVE it if you pick up a Festival Bulletin-that's a very kind offer-Thank You...I will pm you my info-and we already talked my inlaws into coming with us to celebrate Em's B-D next October-very excited for us and them...:goodvibes

I love countdowns. Helps me keep sane and know there is a fantastic end in sight!!!!

I'm trying the dining plan out this time- because of free dining which I upgraded, so we'll see what I do next time. I figured for $32 bucks a day and 3 meals it's worth it. I already don't think I'll be doing it again though. Without the free part I wouldn't get it at all.
