"It's A Small World" soft opening has occurred - confirmed, photos available!

Not firsthand, but I've read elsewhere that IASW first let in guests just a few hours ago.

Yay!:cool1: Woo hoo! That was the rumor last week, I think, that they would do a soft opening today! For some reason, even though my scheduled DLR trip is more than a month away, this makes me excited because I know the 'official' heralding of the DLR holiday season is a mere two days away! It seem like just yesterday it was the start of the Halloween season! Heck, it seems like it was just summer!

Anyway, I can't wait to get back to DLR and see the beautiful, colorful lights of IASW Holiday!:santa:

So uh...

If anyone reads this after coming back from a fun-filled day at DL and gets a chance to go to IASW during this soft opening, can we hear details? :)

The Axiom, love your tag!! Too funny! LOL

This is cool, DBF was asking me about it last night because we saw a commercial. He asked if it was opened again and I told im it was supposed to open this weekend. Then he asked when that and HMH were closing so I told him Jan. 4th......he looked thoughtful and then said "Oh good" so he either suspects what his birthday gift is this year (see my ticker) or he is planning a surprise trip himself....LOL I wonder which one it is........

Hahaha, why thanks pixiewings ;).

So does that mean the last day of HMH is Jan 4th? Darn... I'm planning to go again this January (I know, we all went in October, but we're at it again!! :thumbsup2 ). I LOVE LOVE HMH... Can't stress it enough!

When HMH goes down, does that mean all the Xmas decorations for the entire park go down as well?

Hey Ax - I would take a guess and say yes. The lights will go "dark" and they will start the removal process. Might take a few days (nights) for them to do it all.

I know WDW is definitely like that. The Osborne lights are out after midnight on 1/4 and then the removal process starts.

PS - I forgot to tell Jazz, but we just had to cancel our WDW trip for the first week of Jan, so we may be able to pop over to DL and meet you guys to say hello!!!

Oh yay!! That would be swell!
It'd be tons of fun to see other DIS'ers in the park; we wore our LGMH's for 2 of the 3 days we were there, but to no avail :/

I'm sorry to hear about your WDW trip btw :(. I remember we were all scheduled to go a few years back, but a things came up and we couldn't go either. That would have been my first trip there! But all things happen for a reason, eh?

That's why I redid my dates for Jan. LOL I originally was going to go the 6th- 11th but realized that all the Christmas stuff would be down, that's why we are going the 3rd-8th instead. I'll have my LGMH's so I'll be on the lookout for you guys!! :)
Nancy, I'll have to watch for you too. We should/could have a Dis Mini Meet one of our days. :)

Fingers crossed for a surprise trip! So you guys can take 2!!!! :thumbsup2

So when IASWH opens there will no Disney characters and no Americana scene (yet!!). Just new boats and a new flume. We waited this long for new boats!!?? :headache: BOO!!

Awww man... Just new boats?
So if it's a soft opening, why haven't they updated everything fully yet? Is it just open for the holidays' sake?

I assume Mickey & the other Disney characters and the Americana scene will be part of It's a Small World Holiday 2009?? That should be extra fun!

Anyway, Perlster, thanks for posting those links! I had been checking Miceage/Mice Chat for signs of life in terms of new holiday merchandise, food, decorations, etc. each day, and nothing too elaborate or out of the ordinary was being shown yet. But it is great to see that IASW is up and running in its full holiday splendor!!! I can't wait to get to DLR!!!:cool1: The funny thing is, it does not look all that impressive on the outside of the building during the day, even in these pictures. Other than the Santa hat, you might not notice anything special about the IASW facade. But, man oh man, when those lights come on at night, and the whole exterior is lit up in a rainbow of holiday colors, it turns into a whole different sight to see and people from everywhere in the parks flock to that line...which suddenly gets close to veering into ToonTown because it is so long. I suspect that will happen this year too.

I forgot to mention, also, that I like what they are doing with A Bug's Land this year. I don't know if they did this last year, but apparently there are going to be giant ornaments and decorations around ABL now. The only thing is, DCA is not open very late, so we have a limited window of time after dark to get over to ABL and see the giant ornaments lit up!! I love that the whole park (both of them) is decorated for the holidays, but I also love that they pay special attention to certain lands, like ABL and like ToonTown, which not only has its OWN Christmas tree, as we all know, but Mickey even has his own little tree out in front of his house! It is like the critters and the Toons are having their own celebrations!

Cool! I am glad we had to post-pone our trip from the beginning of this week!!!

Oh wow....that would be killer but I highly doubt it. LOL I think he's figuring out what I've got planned due to other talks we've had about the time around his birthday. lol All I want is a birthday trip of my very own next year. :) I mean actually ON my b-day, last year we went after but everyone else went on or the day before their b-day. :)

From what I have read, I believe the new additions or "pluses" to IASW are already in place, they are just covered up by the Holiday overlay. Once the overlay is removed in February, you will be able to see all the new changes. I don't believe the Disney character additions were ever intended to be viewed in the Holiday version.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! I want to see it! I could have been there today too!

Thanks for sharing the pictures... now I have to decide if I am going to peek at them or not.... DYING to find out if all the Disney characters were implemented or not.... but want to see it with fresh eyes in person. Decisions....... okay, at this moment, not looking at the pictures. (Soooo want to though.)
