It's a-LIVE, a-LiVE...Trip Report, That Is

After we finished lunch at Mama Melrose's, we headed over to Rock 'N' Roller Coaster to redeem our fastpasses we got earlier in the day.

As we were about to go into the "recording studio," they announced that the ride was having technical difficulties. They asked that everyone in the fastpass line leave and said that they would redeem our passes any time that night. As we were walking back down the queue, though, they announced that they got the ride working again, so we were able to ride it after all. On the way out, I noticed the nifty themed restroom signs they have here, so I had to get a picture.

As we left Rock 'N' Roller Coaster, we saw that the wait time for Tower of Terror was only 13 minutes. (This is the second time we have seen them do this; it makes me laugh!).

A71B48CD-BABA-4C48-AEEA-39765455BCD8-253-0000009BCEA73571.jpg

It really ended up being about a twenty minute wait, but it wasn't that bad.

We had time for one last attraction before dinner, so I chose Voyage of the Little Mermaid since we hadn't done this yet this trip. I always love seeing this show!

After the show was finished, we headed to the docks to catch a boat to the Beach Club for our dinner at Cape May Cafe.

Stay tuned for dinner details!

We arrived at the Beach Club about a half an hour before our dinner reservation for Cape May Cafe.

Once we had checked in, we hung out in the lobby for a little bit while we waited to be seated. There is an artist in the lobby who paints watercolors and oil paintings, and you can pay them to paint you. I would love to do this sometime, even though it is a bit pricy.

We were seated just a couple of minutes past our reservation time, and after we ordered our drinks, we headed up to the buffet. They had tons of food from which to choose: crab legs, shrimp, gnocchi with short ribs, soups, salads, corn bread, corn on the cob...the list goes on and on.

My plate:

After we finished our dinner, we also tried several of the desserts they had available. Most of them are served as small portions so that you can have a little taste of several desserts. The strawberry shortcake dessert actually had a little piece of chocolate stuck in the top of it with the name of the resort written on it.

Our waitress also surprised us with chocolate mousse with candles in it for our anniversary. It was good but rich, and after eating so much already, we were only able to eat a little bit.

I very much enjoyed Cape May Cafe and definitely plan on going back on another trip. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys seafood. For those people who don't, there were several non-seafood choices: a carving station, the aforementioned gnocchi, and a couple of other dishes.

After we finished dinner, we headed back to the Hollywood Studios boat, hoping to catch the 10:30 showing of Fantasmic since it got cancelled when we were going to see it the other night.

Will we finally get to see Fantasmic? Find out in the next post!

Cape May looks delish, is it a buffet? Im usually not a fan of buffets, since I'm lazy and like my food brought to me!:)
I have a feeling you got lucky and finally saw Fantasmic! Hope I'm right!pixiedust:
Any ideas on what resort you would like to stay at for your next Disney trip?;)

It is a buffet! We would really like to stay at the Beach Club next time. Not sure when that will be though...

Heading home :( Cell signal at MCO is spotty and we are getting in late, so I will finish Fantasmic from Saturday and stuff from this morning tomorrow. It won't be live from Orlando anymore though. Until then!

Have a safe trip!!! I'll be leaaving out of ACY on Friday. Heading to MCO :)

great update and pics.

Looks like a great time.

This is an awesome TR! I've never actually seen a live one, and although I just caught the tail end of it, it was very entertaining. My family is staying in the Cars section of Art of Animation in April! So excited :)

Do you know approx how much the portraits are at the Beach Club?

Have fun! We saw it as we went over to AoA's main building, and it looked really cool!

It really depends on what you have done. Oil paintings were very expensive, upwards of $1000 if I remember correctly. The other kind--I think it was either watercolors or pastels--was a little less than $200 per person if I remember correctly. So if there were two people in the picture, it would be around $400. I think those prices might have been estimates, though, and they give you a quote based on what exactly you want done.

We made it back to Hollywood Studios around 9 and had about 45 minutes to kill before Fantasmic. We thought about going on a ride or two, but we decided to go shopping instead because we hadn't really checked out any of the stores at DHS. Mostly, we just browsed, but my husband did buy a t-shirt. (Sorry, forgot to get a picture of it.)

We got in line for Fantasmic around 9:35, and they started seating a little while later. We had seats in the back in the middle of the theater.

Just before 10:30, they announced that...Fantasmic was about to start! Woohoo! It hadn't been cancelled again!

It had been at least twelve years since I saw this show, and my husband had never seen it. We both enjoyed it very much!!!

I think I took 70-80 pictures of Fantasmic, so I am just going to post a sampling of them:

After Fantasmic, we headed out of the park, and we were able to catch a bus back to Pop within ten minutes. We got back to Pop a little before midnight but still had to pack our bags, so we probably didn't get to sleep until about one or two.

Coming up:
Our last day of vacation...BOO!!!

We left out of there once. It's so quick to get through security!

I love leaving out of ACY as oppose to PHL because for one its alot closer and much smaller. Like you said security goes much quicker ! I still cant believe your trip is over :(

Agree, Boo about your last day! Makes me realize how quickly our trip will go past too. It looks like you have had a fantastic time though! Thanks for letting us tag along on your trip!

Me either! But don't leave yet--I still have one more day to post!

We really wanted to go to Magic Kingdom for rope drop on our last day, but with getting to sleep late, waking up feeling icky (me), doing airline check-in, and storing our bags, we didn't manage to make it to the park that early.

We left our room pretty much right at check out time, taking a couple last pictures on the way out.

Once we had checked in for our flight and stored our bags, we headed over to the MK bus stop. On the way, I heard my name being called, and who should I see but Janet B, the host of the Pop FAQ thread! We had met her for the first time at 50s PTC two years ago when we were seated next to each other. (See my Poly TR for the story.) I knew she was arriving the day we were leaving, and she was going to text me when they went to the parks that day to see if we were nearby; however, I never expected to just run into her like that without even planning it!

After we said hello to Janet, we headed over to the MK bus stop, where we waited about 15-20 minutes for a bus.

We arrived at Magic Kingdom around noon, and as we walked down Main Street, we caught the Dapper Dans, Mayor, and Fire Chief doing a little show.

We headed over to Tomorrowland and decided to ride Buzz Lightyear. The wait was about 30 minutes, but the fastpass return time was only 40 minutes or so later. Since we had not eaten yet, we decided to get a fastpass because we could then ride with minimal wait by the time we finished eating.

Since we were in Tomorrowland, we decided to grab quick service at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe.

I got the chicken fingers meal with chocolate gelato for the dessert item, and my husband got a grilled chicken sandwich with chocolate cake for dessert.

4FF414B9-E028-4991-A5E2-EAAE52AF4984-380-000000A54A0FDDA0.jpg

For quick service, it was actually pretty decent. After we finished eating, my husband actually said, "Is it bad that I liked this more than Mama Melrose's?" I would agree with him; it was definitely much better despite being quick service rather than table service!

After lunch, we headed back over to Buzz to use our fastpasses. Will my husband actually be able to beat me this time? You'll just have to stick around a little longer to find out...

As usual, the fastpasses cut down our wait to about five minutes. :woohoo: This time my husband managed to beat me...by A LOT! Oh well, I still came out ahead; I won the other time we rode Buzz AND the time we rode Toy Story Midway Mania.

After Buzz, my husband suggested we go on the Carousel of Progress. While I love that attraction, I wanted to do something we hadn't done yet on this trip since this would be our last chance. We decided on the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. I have never actually seen Monsters, Inc., but I really like this attraction anyway! (I think the only Pixar movie I ever saw was Toy Story. I really need to watch more, especially Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc.)

Once we finished the Monsters, Inc. show, we headed over to Storybook Circus to see it in the day time and check out the ride wait times. Both Dumbo and the Barnstormer had about 30 minute waits, so we decided not to ride them. I did get to see the cool new splash zone though.

We also saw some of the Fantasyland construction that was visible over the top of the construction walls.

We thought about riding the Haunted Mansion one last time before we left, but with the wait time being twenty minutes and the ride about ten minutes or so, we were afraid we might get back to Pop too late.

We had not gone to the Emporium yet, so we headed back to Main Street. Before we went shopping, we got a few Photopass pictures, and I snapped a few final pictures of the castle and Main Street.

In the Emporium, we looked for a Halloween shirt my husband had wanted at DHS (where they didn't have his size), but they didn't have any Halloween merchandise out at Magic Kingdom yet. We did pick up a key chain that had a dog wearing Mickey ears on it for my mom, who had been dog-sitting for us.

Before we left, we stopped at the candy store for a couple of treats for the airport--a pretzel rod covered in chocolate and Reese's Pieces for me and a milk chocolate S'mores square for my husband.

They saw our anniversary buttons and gave us free Mickey head cake pops as a gift too. One was chocolate cake covered in milk chocolate, and the other was red velvet covered in white chocolate. Both had marshmallows in the ears. I only took a picture of the red velvet one because the other broke in the bag. (It still tasted good though!)

After we left the candy shop, we headed out to the Pop bus stop, taking one last look at the train station on the way out.

The Pop bus arrived in a few minutes, and we were back to Pop around 3:00. Our Magical Express bus wasn't scheduled until 3:55, and we wanted to stop by Everything Pop to shop and eat a very early dinner with our last dining credits before leaving. Would we have time to get everything done!? Stay tuned to find out!

So bummed we are almost done. I haven't found a new live thread to keep up with yet. I may have withdrawals!
