It's a drag coming home....

Yes this is sooo true. I go with a girlfriend, and we too get depressed even before we go. We LOOVE being there, but at the end of each day even, we're sad that our vacation is one day shorter. :(

But we could definitely be addicted to worse things, and this is so good for our souls!

We were there June 19-June 26 and I've been depressed too since we've come back. The only thing that keeps me sane is knowing we will go back someday and reading these boards!!!::yes::

:)
Do your spouses "share" your depression after coming home from WDW?
My DH loves our vacation time there, but looks at me very strangely when we come home and I mention getting back there ASAP.

I too, suffer from PDD and am not ahamed to say it.
We have been home for a month now and I still can't seem to shake it. We had a great trip and I can relate to another poster here who said that they feel the symptoms of PDD coming on even BEFORE a trip. I enjoy the planning and looking forward to it parts so much that I am almost disappointed that the last week or two just prior to the trip just flies by and suddenly you are in the car( or at the airport) and on the way!
I want to dig in my heels and yell "WAIT!! I'M NOT READY TO GO YET!!"
I am glad that we have each other!

after reading this thread. We came home from a 7 night stay athe Poly on 7/13. Don't laugh at me......Believe it or not, I'm still not over it. I do the same thing - I've been looking at the date and thinking "2 weeks ago I was at the Kona Cafe having breakfast." Just like another poster, I too have been "nearly depressed." It's so hard to leave paradise. You can't sum it up better than that.

Not sure when we're going back...we've already been twice this year so I feel guilty contemplating a third trip for the year. We also went to the Outer Banks of NC for an extended weekend so that's 3 vacations and it's only August. There are people who can't afford to take 1 vacation and it makes me feel sad and a bit guilty. My DH has expressed an interest in going back Thanksgiving week. We've been going for 10 years, since our honeymoon. We've never missed a year and many times we've gone twice in a year. One year we went three times.

Not to change the subject of the thread - but do any of you also feel a bit guilty??

oh yes does it happen to us! all of us in my family!

like most disorders...i blame this one on my parents! ROFL! cause when i was a kid they took us down to WDW 2 weeks at a time twice a year :earseek: of course it wasn't so pricey then; we'd fill up a Villa with grandparents and aunts and uncles too so everyone shared the cost. there was only one park, and so we would spend a lot of time swimming, my favorite thing when i was little besides being in the MK at night (before they cut the hours down to practically nothing!) was being in the Marketplace at night with the twinkling lights in the trees!

when i was little, leaving WDW and going home to an unhappy home life (my parents usually checked their arguements at the front gate when coming to disney property, or at least the screaming part...) so going home from the magic was a long way to fall. same with during my first marriage.

now that i have a wonderful, fun, peaceful and happy home to come back to its not so painful. but still, i feel most relaxed and happy and 'home' still in WDW. I go there and can remember such happy times with my dear grandfather who has been gone now 20 years.

my DH definitely shares the feeling too, he's fully addicted to WDW now. He'd only been there once in his life before we got married, and he's been there five times since! LOL There is just no place on earth we would rather go on vacation.

we have to see the fireworks early in the week cause seeing them at the end of the trip makes leaving harder LOL. we have little 'rules' like this. :earseek: also we always take an evening flight home to try to squeeze every bit of magic out of the last day of our vacation that we can.

but we have decided that the only way to really deal with it is to start planning next fall's trip. we have kind of made a pact that we will go to WDW once a year, whether we have to stay value resorts, or economize, or whatever.

living with a debilitating chronic illness is depressing enough. i find that having a WDW trip on the horizon to look forward to really helps my overall outlook in general...so if that makes me addicted, well, i can live with that! LOL people spend money on lots of different kinds of vacations, for our money, there is nowhere on earth that gives our family the joy, memories, and bliss of a WDW vacation.

hugs to all my fellow PDD sufferers!!! it's always the worst right after you get back.

we haven't even left yet and i've already been thinking about it! LOL

I suffer from PDD as well. I always hate leaving. My last day is always at MK and walking down Main Street to the train station I am always teary eyed and yes that feeling stays with me for a bit. Like posted above, I go back to work and think to myself, geeze a month ago I was at Disney. Then I go home and watch an hour of video tape taken while on vacation and feel better (reliving of the vacation vicariously through video). I work with people who don't have a clue and wonder why I love Disney and try to go back every year(even though I don't make it every year, I dream). I really don't get them and they don't get me but many on this board understand the feeling. There is magic there, it just happens and when you come back home to humdrum there's very little magic in it and it makes you want it more.

Hang in there and begin planning your next vacation no matter how far off.

Right now I'm in the group doing the, "2 weeks ago today we were...." phase.:D It stinks getting back to "real life" , but I know Disney will always be there waiting for me to come back.
