yep. back in ancient something or other (i can never remember where) soldiers weren't allowed to wed on pain of death. they were supposed to live only to fight and kill not to love a woman. if caught with a woman they would be executed. Saint Valentine was a priest who thought that was a horrible law. he would wed couples in secret. when caught, he was executed as well as several soldiers he wed. later after his death he achieved sainthood and his "crimes" were forgiven.
