Has anyone done this tour? I know a lot of people have reported on going on the other Italy tour (Rome, Florence and Venice) but curious if anyone has any insight into this Italy tour. Thanks for any input anyone has

I haven't done this specific ABD, but a lot of the days' activities are the same as the ones we did on my ABD Med cruise add-on. So I can't help you with hotel questions. Bit we did do the private cruise to Capri and the swim in the Med, the walking tour of Florence and the visit to the Accademia to see Michelangelo's David, the visit to the Agriturismo La Galeatea and the pizza making. I loved each and every one of those days! Just beautiful!

I had been considering taking the Italy & Amalfi coast trip, and maybe doing Rome prior to the trip. I still think that would be a good combination.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about those activities.

Thanks for the info. I've been debating between the two and, for me, Amalfi coast/ Pompeii is a place I really want to go. Not that I don't want to see Venice, but I think this itinerary is a little better for me. However, I would definitely do Rome prior to the tour starting because I really do want to see Rome.

How was visiting Capri? I love the idea of having a little more time in the Tuscan region to include Pisa, Lucca and Sienna. I'm sure it's beautiful

I felt the same way as you about the itineraries. Capri was beautiful. First we took a small boat around the perimeter of Capri (a wild and beautiful coastline with blue, blue water!) then we anchored in a cove and jumped in (although it was really windy, which made it a little rough in the water. But still very cool). Capri itself is quaint and very pretty. There's a small "mountain" there, and some of us climbed up the stairs as far as we could (it was rather steep, and we eventually ran out of time to make it to the top). But the views along the way, and the couryards & doors of the homes we passed were all well worth the climb. I think if I did it again, I'd take the funicular up, then walk down. :) A really nice day!

We really enjoyed this tour because half of the itinerary is spent in the smaller towns and cities like Sorrento, Positano, Lucca, Sienna and Pisa. All of those places have an amazing history and the scenery is beautiful. After the AbD, we took the train from Florence to Rome and spent a week there. You'll have a great time on this tour.

Thanks sayhello and disfan10! That information has been incredibly helpful and definitely helped me make a decision. I've been able to talk my husband into going with me and I think this itinerary definitely will make us both happy. We'll fly in early to spend some time in Rome and when the tour is over we'll head over to Bologna and Maranello to see the Ducati and ferrari museum (that's how I got him to agree to go) :lmao:

We like to be active so climbing the 'mountain' and biking in Lucca sounds very appealing as well. We will probably do the adult only in September 2016 so hopefully it will be warm enough to jump into the blue water off of Capri!!

We did the Amalfi coast on our own prior to leaving for the regular Italy tour. Kids really want to see Pompeii and we wanted to see the coast. Was quite easy to do on our own.
Do a search on my threads and you will see how we did it. Would do it exactly the same way if we had to do it again.

We are seriously considering the Tauck Bridges tour, a sweet life Rome to Sorrento. It combines Rome and Capri and looks perfect for us. ;)

Hi--We went on this ABD a couple of years ago and had alot of fun. We added 5 days in Rome afterwards. Here is a link to a trip report we did with some photos. It is also in the trip report sticky at the top of the page.

Thank you for the link. It was a great review and the pictures look fantastic. I really enjoyed reading it and your additional Rome tours. Sounds like you guys had a great time and enjoyed yourselves
