Kevin and John -

Thank you SO much for your Boathouse Review portion of today's show - I was amongst the begging crowd clamoring for some more dining reviews for a long time! I think this place will be off my personal-interest radar due to the high prices, but loved the review.

And - no total spoiler alert, but after everybody watches the show, I hope they'll find the title of this post as hilarious as I did, and it will make sense! Still :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Masterful, Kevin!!!!

Yes, great review! Still on the fence with whether or not we will try it next month for lunch. Seafood is my favorite and my fiance will suck it up as long as there's a burger or something on the menu.

I'm sure Kevin would encourage you to go and decide for yourself. As he has said in many previous reviews, this was his opinion and that everybody should make up their own mind.

However, stay away from the "rat poison". :lmao:

Hahaha yes I will stay away from the rat poison, for sure! I have listened to/read quite a few reviews on the Boathouse - all varying opinions - I just don't know if I can justify the price over trying somewhere else that we haven't tried, that's all. :)

Let's see...

A Tyne Daly as Gypsy reference, (personally, I think Daisy Duck looks more like she's dressed like Stevie Nicks, but that's just me) Star Wars "crap" and an "It would kill rats !" outburst that had be spitting a little of my cucumber coolie back in it's glass....

*sigh* I've really missed this show. :lovestruc

I didn't think their prices were that out of line overall. When you consider that 4 people had appetizers, main course and shared dessert, two alcoholic beverages and a couple of soft drinks, that brings you to <$50/person. Note that I said "overall". You might want to skip $5 scallops.

Yes, you can certainly eat elsewhere for less. You can also spend much, much more. During the podcast Keven also mentioned Bull & Bear which is a personal favorite. However if you go there be prepared for over $75/person.

Thanks, Jeff! I always appreciate hearing other's thoughts, especially on places we have not yet tried. :)

I had a "light" dinner there last Friday. Got two small things on the menu because I was looking for a snack while sitting at the waterfront bar, not a signature restaurant meal...

Dockside Bucket Shrimp and Fries.... $19... for 4 shrimp
Filet Mignon sliders and Fries... $12... for 2 sliders

Both were good. Not great, not anything I'll crave... but good. But I paid $31 for in essence 6 things, and a massive amount of fries. So I concur with the general premise and most of the reviews on the internet. Good food, great atmosphere, obnoxiously overpriced.

Thanx for you review, and thoughts. Most of the time I won't mind paying higher prices, as long as I feel I'm getting a "good bang for my buck". However, reviews and honest appraisals like yours help me decide if I even want to venture into a place like this, and I do appreciate it.

I was actually surprised to hear it was that cheap. I expected it to be pricier than that knowing Disney. Soft drinks are about $3 and alcoholic drinks are typically in the $10 range. Knock off those and the $200 tab drops to $175-ish or only about $44/person. We commonly pay that much or more here at home for a nice dinner. We won't be going there due to DW's seafood allergy but if not for that, I would definitely give it a try.

And remember, Kevin said he would go back. He just wouldn't order the scallops.

$19 for FOUR shrimp ??? Good night, nurse ! o_O That's just ridiculous. I hope at least they were really BIG shrimp. ("Jumbo", as they say...)

Still, we DO want to try out the place. I guess it's just a matter of ordering the right things....

I will say that they were big shrimp, and they were butterflied... so it made them feel even bigger. If it was $12 or $14... probably would've been okay with it.

If nothing else, I heartily recommend heading to the waterfront/dockside bar which is literally floating in the water for an early evening drink and snack before heading elsewhere for dinner. I had a great night despite the $60+ pricetag including drinks.
