It Will Be An October Quickie!! We're in Single Digits!!!

#12 of "What 'm Looking Forward To"!!

EPCOT World Showcase & Illuminations!!!!

We are really excited to walk around the World Showcase and see all the different countries represented and look around in their shops, see the entertainment, experience their culture & sample their foods. I know some people really LOVE doing this while others are more interested in the hitting some of the rides in the Future World section. We aren't very interested in that half of the park.....which makes us in the minority.

Then at the end of the evening to watch Illuminations~~water, music & fireworks!!! Can't Wait!!!!!!

World Show case is awesome!!

Our favorite country is Mexico. Make sure you go inside it, as there is a ride inside, Gran Fiesta. It is just a little boat ride with Donald 3 caballeros. So cute. Inside, is really neat. You will see :goodvibes

My other 2 favorite countries are UK and Germany. The shops are very cool. Germany has a miniature train outside.

Illuminations is awesome!!!

"We're three caballeros, three gay caballeros, they say we are birds of a feather" ~~~ I have this one on my radar!!!

Mike loves trains......so he'll love that!! (and the caramel) :hyper:

I've seen a really good video of Illuminations and am very excited to see this in person!

Awesome!!! I'll go look for it!

How old are your 2 with autism? Do they do well at WDW? The twins did really good last December at Disneyland......we were amazed at how well they did. Michayla (who is our non-verbal/communicate) actually had a couple encounters with characters that were priceless!!

I don't know how I missed this! I just got around to catching up on your pretrippie...I abounded mine due to lack of time and our computer crashing!

My two kiddos with Autism are 20yo and 4yo. Crazy age difference, right? Especially with none in between! My son was every classic in the beginning and completely non-verbal til 3.5yo, but he's come a long way....he's actually in his third year of college now! My little one was verrrry little when she was born: 1 lb 2 oz! She's got mild cp, about 99% tube-fed (100% of liquids) and also has Autism.

I was so excited because I thought this might be my first opportunity for a DISmeet! You guys were scheduled to have lunch at LTT on October 11th and so are we....but then I kept reading and saw your dates were switched around. Oh well!

I hope you have a great trip and are able to enjoy yourselves despite leaving the little ones behind. This is our first time going without my son, but he's in the middle of his semester at school.mI don't feel TOO bad because we're sending him on his first SOLO trip (!!!!) in January to celebrate his 21st birthday! He probably knows WDW better than he knows the town we live in, so the biggest concern is making his shuttles and flights!

Two weeks today for us! Hope you're as excited as we are!

Bummer about your computer! :faint:

16 yrs apart is a bit of a gap.....we have a 12 yr gap between biological & adopted......so I know how that can play out when the younger one wants to play and the older ones don't really "play" anymore......lol

That's wonderful about your son!! Quite an accomplishment!! We keep hoping Michayla will start talking but she's also dealing with very low cognative skills (about 12-18mths). Your daughter was tiny! How early was she? The twins were 34 weeks but both right around 5 lbs....which is probably good for Michayla.....she was quite a mess at birth, but much better health wise now.

Well rats!......I would have loved to do a meet up!! Derek wasn't able to do MK on Fridays due to a cast member blackout....that's why we changed. I would have loved to finish our trip at MK and the party, but it is what it is & with making the day change....I actually lucked out & got Be Our Guest and then a couple hours later I got Cinderella's Royal Table!!! So I'm super excited & happy we made the change!!! :cool1:

We're at EPCOT, Weds 10/9 for the whole day~~MK, Thurs 10/10 for the whole day and then AK for the first half of the day & then DHS for the 2nd half of the day on Fri 10/11. If that overlaps in any way.....let me know. I love meeting up with DIS friends!!

Which resort are you staying at? We're doing breakfast on our way out of town Saturday morning at Kona Cafe at the Poly.

I've never done Tower of Terror.......I hate that dropping feeling!! :scared1:

Fingers crossed for you to go next year!!

I actually found the WDW Tower of Terror quite tame in relation to the one at DL- it is a series of small drops as oppose to 1-2 large ones...you should give it a try! :thumbsup2

I'd like to check it all out....but very doubtful that I will be riding this...... :rotfl:

Having dinner at the 50's Prime Time Cafe!! I've read some really fun reviews of this place and really hope we get a GOOD waiter/waitress! From what I understand.....the CM can make or break this place. Good ol' comfort food too!

50s Prime time is the best . Fingers crossed you get a good CM. This is the one time where you should NOT behave !

#10 of "What I'm Looking Forward To"!!! I can't believe we're 10 days away!!! :hyper:

Animal Kingdom's Tree of Life!! Yup, I'm excited to see a fake tree! Fascinating seeing the footage of the imagineers creating this tree and then all the amazing carvings that make up the trunk of this tree....make this a MUST SEE!!!

Oh I think I may know what your number one thing you are most excited to see is.:goodvibes

The Tree of Life is great!!! Don't be afraid while in line to take a ton of pics. You can step aside and let people pass if you want to. Lot of people do it. So many animals. So much fun to see them all :thumbsup2

I can't believe it......WE'RE IN SINGLE DIGITS!!!! :cool1: #9 of "What I'm Looking Forward To"!!!

I really hope we will get a chance to ride the monorail.......Both tracks! We will ride the resort line on Saturday since we're eating breakfast at Kona Cafe in the Poly. Here's my question........How long is the Epcot loop and do we have to get off at the park or can we ride it round trip? I really only see us getting to do that part if we have enough time after breakfast and before we have to head back to the All Star Sports resort to catch the Magical Express back to the airport.

 Laurie, you will have to get off the EPCOT loop after it makes the circle around EPCOT. Then if you want to ride back, go down the ramp, walk over to the entrance ramp and back to the TTC Monorail. Since time will be tight, you could walk over to the buses and take the bus back to your resort. Then you would get to ride the resort and EPCOT monorail.

We have done this several times, even though we usually stayed at the Polynesian. When EPCOT was brand new, we walked over from the Polynesian (no official walk way back then), took the EPCOT monorail, got off, walked to the other ramp and went back to TTC. We had no desire to experience EPCOT until our next trip (4 mos later) because it was only our second trip, just a 3 ngt winter getaway, and we wanted to spend all of our time at the MK. :goodvibes

You are going to have so much fun!!! pixiedust:

p.s. Will Derek still be doing the College Program in December? If so, I hope we will see him as we'll be staying Port Orleans French Quarter. :)
