It Was the Best of Times & the Worst, But It Was the Best Trip Evah!

The weather has been so wonderful these past three weeks. I really hate to be leaving for the cold weather!

I'm not sure about Riverside as I don't want one of those rooms that have the stick furniture. Does anyone know about that?

I need to figure out where to eat as I have to do my ADRs Monday when we return! I don't have much time to choose!:surfweb:

The stick furniture is in Alligator Bayoo - request Magnolia Bend, that is where the Mansion Houses are!

Making ADRs was a pain yesterday - I had to call - it would not let me do it online, so be prepared for that.

When will you arrive at WDW? Will we be able to meet with you? We should be neighbours "resort-wise", as we are staying down the road at OKW. :goodvibes

Karin, we will arrive Sept.10, leave on the 15th. I really hope that we will be able to have a Dismeet. We had such a good time with you & Tom.

Thanks for the info about the room. That is what I needed to know!

Hi Doris!

Just found your report tonight and I really enjoyed it. I think I have a future grandson-in-law for your granddaughter. He too is an Indy nut and loves Star Wars. He was Indy last year for Halloween and even talked his brother into being Short Round. Loved your granddaughter's Indy-inspired outfit. My two dress like him all the time. Did she find the "real" Indy hats at the gift shop? My James almost had me talked into buying him one! They know I have trouble saying no at Disney. ;)

Anyway, I'm glad you had such a wonderful trip. Both your granddaughters are beautiful and how special that you were able to introduce them to Disney. My first trip was with my neighbors (who were like grandparents to me) and I have never forgotten it. 32 years later and I still remember where we ate each night. I'm sure it will be the same for your granddaughters. Thank you for sharing your trip!

Nancy, welcome aboard! Your grandson sounds perfect for my granddaughter! She just had her bedroom decorated with Star Wars decor, very cute!

She got her Indy hat at the Disney store in Oklahoma. She got lots of compliments on her outfit. Her favorite thing at Disney was doing the Jedi training.

I wanted girly girls since I had four sons, but I love them anyway!

I was telling my son about Emily yesterday at dinner and he said "sounds like my kind of girl!" :rotfl2: So cute.

Well I have two boys and am a pretty girly girl myself. My SIL told me I could borrow my niece, but she's not really girly either. And my younger niece is not looking too girly either. :sad2: I'm hoping that I will be blessed with some granddaughters in the future...way in the future!! By then though, I probably won't know what to do with a girl! ;) At least my son's like Disney!!!

Hey Doris - are you home? If so, welcome back and I hope you had a fab time in Florida! :goodvibes

We got back Sat. afternoon. The trip was wonderful, but the first week was a time of great illness! for both of us, had a mean virus!

Went boating on the intercoastal, had dolphins swimming along side of us. Watched manatees in a little cove as they came up every 15 minutes for air. That was a wonderful experience. Will post some pictures if you like & will try to wind up this TR soon.

Sounds lovely. Well, except for the virus part.

Of course you MUST post pictures! Was there ever any question?

I will post some photos soon. I've been trying to catch up with things here at home since we've been back from Florida. Being away for 3 weeks means lots to do when returning.

I managed to get my ADRs this morning for the Sept. trip. The online reservation site was not working, kept getting can't find your ressie, please call. Finally called & got what I wanted. Fulton's, Olivia's, Rainforest Cafe & Boatwright's, trying something new this time. Our first night will be CS at Wolfgang's.

Yesterday at 5:30 Air Force One flew over my house as it was coming in for a landing at WPAFB. Obama was visiting the NCAA basketball game. It was cool seeing that plane.;)

I can't wait to see the pictures.
I know what you mean about being behind. I can't keep up here at all, and I desperately need to clean my house.

It’s our last day at WDW, which is usually not a happy one! I mean who is ever ready to go back to real life? We arise early which is our habit of late.

I’m in pack mode & get busy getting all of our things ready to take to the lobby. It didn’t take too long because when it comes to packing I’m really organized! Besides we wanted to get our Disney on during the time we have left. ME isn’t picking us up until 6:30p.m., so we have plenty of time for fun.

Before we check out we head to Port Royal for a little breakfast. We have some snack credits left which we use for our food.

I get the banana nut bread & Bob gets the fruit yogurt with granola. It was pretty good & only 2 snack credits were used.

As you can see we had an uninvited guest. These birds can be a real pest if you don’t watch out.

We made our way back to our room, grabbed our luggage & checked out of CBR. Stowed our carry-ons with bell services, then went to the bus stop. We decided to spend our day at Epcot. At least that was to be our first park of the day.

Disney2011283.jpg

Our PP was a really nice guy. He said that we reminded him of his parents. A few years ago that would have been insulting, but now it was sweet.

He especially wanted us to pose for this photo, so to oblige we did! I thought it was a special picture to have. Although when my youngest GD saw it she was puzzeled as to why we were kissing!

This was our last PP of the trip. It was our first time using this service & I liked it very much! Don’t know if I would get the CD again, but it was great with the GDs.

Our first ride was SSE, which we do like, besides its fun! Then we headed to the land & the boat ride, which is a favorite, at least on this trip!

Bob tried to get a photo of the sturgeon, was partially successful.

Disney2011287.jpg

I would really like to grow my tomatoes like this, but don’t have that kind of luck!

Disney2011288.jpg

We headed out to the Cool Zone, had to taste some different types of soft drinks. I made a surprising discovery! Bob had a sip of the Beverly which he did not like at all! I poured myself a sample & guess what! I really LIKED IT! I had a couple of glasses, thought it was quite refreshing. Of course by this time I could have been delusional as I was starting to get overheated! Anyway the CM told me that 1 in 10 people liked Beverly.

By this time I had to stop at Mouse Gear to buy a new hat. I had packed my Minnie hat & the sun was merciless. I bought one of those cute bucket hats. It was a godsend.

It was on to TT, Soarin’ & MS, which were fun as usual!

Next stop was to save the world, so we needed to get our Kimmunicator. Our country was Norway which we did manage to save.

By this time we were getting pooped. It was so hot & all of that black top at Epcot was taking its toll. I needed some wet refreshment. Bob had beer, but I couldn’t decide what I wanted. I should have had another slushie, but I chose a Sultan’s Colada from the Morocco Coffee & Pastry kiosk. It was terrible, certainly didn’t help my thirst at all.

We were tired & hot, so we sat on a shaded bench overlooking the World Lagoon. I called a friend & spoke to her for 20 minutes. Bob napped a little. I felt so bad because I wanted to go to my room & lie down. However no more room, I felt a little homeless!

After sitting for about an hour, we decided it was time to find a place to eat. We had 2 CS credits left so we went checking all the places. We wanted to eat outside, but the food that we wanted had no shady place to sit. I felt bad every time that we walked past the Japanese kiosk. Those poor Japanese CM girls would snap to attention & try to serve us. We were just looking, but I felt like we were snubbing them when we did not choose their place to eat. We really did want to eat there, but there was no place to sit close by.

Finally I couldn’t take it anymore, off to Sunshine Seasons I said! It was nice & cool in there & not busy. It was around 4:00 by then. I still wasn’t hungry, but I needed to eat something. I ordered the Mongolian beef with no beef just the noodles. My side was the cucumber salad & jello for dessert. Bob got the Mongolian Beef & Rice, with carrot cake.
The large Sprite was about the only thing I put away. That baby was so cold mainly wet! I had gone too long in that heat without drinking. I do that too many times & I need to stop doing that.

The last picture of our trip! Epcot is so photogenic, we love this park. Really love them all & our favorite seems to change each time that we visit!

Disney2011291.jpg

After eating very little myself, Bob ate the rest of mine, we headed to the exit & the bus back to CBR. We had about an hour to wait for the ME. We sat in the lobby & watched vintage Disney cartoons, which was a perfect ending for me of our vacation!

ME came right time, our flight was right on time & we were home at 11:30p.m. I do love that nonstop flight from here to MCO.

I do have some further thoughts to add.

Continued…..

I will post pictures of Florida after my final thoughts. I have to get the photos downloaded to Photobucket. The Dis has been so slow lately so I wanted to get going on my TR.

More to come! :)

Oh, I hate to see your trip coming to an end.
Thanks for all the fun photos - I loved them all!
Your last day sounds pretty nice - it's such a nice treat when your flight back home is a late one!
I really hate that we will miss you this summer! :sad2:

I was so hoping that we would meet again, but I had to do a later date because of the dog. If we went the day after Labor Day we would have to put the dog in the kennel on Sat.morning & he would be there for 3 nights before we left due to the holiday. Bob really doesn't like leaving him that long.

I'm not done with my report yet, I will be posting some final thoughts & some pictures of our Florida trip.

I can totally relate to that heat. I felt it in August too. It made it harder to keep going. Sometimes I wish I could sprout wings and fly.
