It has come to this: Black market Girl Scout Cookies

We accept venmo, but it’s a bit of a tracking pain. So we mostly stick to the abc smart cookies app, which is what our Girl Scout unit uses to sell cookies online, it can be set up to accept credit cards at booths.
We have a square account and can accept credit cards. I have the swiper, and one of the other troop moms has the wireless chip and contactless reader. That one also takes apple Pay. We didn’t accept Venmo, but we did find out square accounts can accept cash app. Typically our sales were 50/50 cash vs credit card. Many people don’t carry cash, so the card reader is a must.
Our council reimburses us the square fees.

If someone is willing to pay $29, I applaud those willing to sell and make an obscene profit.

Perhaps since these are vegan explains why the chocolate coating doesn't taste very good. If they use those baking wafers or whatever you call imitation chocolate is the reason for the difference.

DW has 2 GS Troops 40+ girls and I've been a GS for almost 8 years to be able to assist DW and work with the Girls on Projects. Currently the Engineering Advisor for 1 Girl going for her Gold and shortly will be working with other Girls for their Bronze Award Project (2nd time) to be used in our Local GS Camp.

We had 1,198 Cases or 14,376 boxes or 201,264 Cookies this year that I helped load onto our 26" Penske truck and then a friend of mine, thankfully 21 years younger than me, who unloaded the truck by placing 8 cases into wagons then down the truck's ramp across the Lanai into the house where I then guided the wagons to various locations and unloaded and stacked. 5+ hours of work and thankfully it was during our cold spell cause this almost 73YO would have collapsed for sure if we had temps like today - 88°F and humid.

p.s.- the Thin Mints and Raspberry and others are GREAT out of the freezer

I wonder if that’s why the Tagalongs taste better cause they are not vegan? I prefer them over the peanut butter patties. Got to try both recently.

Does anyone know if you buy through a troop's link in a state with a different baker whether you get it from that baker? I do not like ABC, but that's what serves most of VA and NC.

I ordered online from a WV troop and the names were those I associate with Little Brownie. Where I live in northern Virginia they were also.

The dairy in the Tagalongs, whey, is listed as the second-to-last ingredient under the “contains less than 2%” heading so I doubt it’s making that much of a difference. I think the difference in taste is more likely attributed to them being different cookies with different recipes. The comparison reviews I read consistently described the Peanut Butter Patties as crispier with a single thin layer of peanut butter and a prominent vanilla flavor, whereas the Tagalongs are described as softer and creamier with a thick dollop of peanut butter and no vanilla is used. They even look different.

And look at the difference between Thin Mints (both vegan) between the two manufacturers, followed by the now-discontinued S’mores which didn’t even pretend to be the same thing.

I stopped buying Girl Scout cookies (and I love the Thin Mints) when our local council switched to ABC Bakery.
