I've said it before and I've said it again. The pier is not a problem for every guest, but for the guests for whom it is a problem, it's a big problem. We have an autistic kiddo who is too big for a wagon but did not qualify when we asked about the golf cart ride as his issue with the walk is neurological rather than physical. It was a very hot day in the sun and by the end he was sobbing hysterically in full meltdown mode. Did he survive? Sure. Is that how we wanted our experience of the day to go on a very expensive concierge cruise trying to get to our very expensive cabana at Mabrika cove (which was also a disaster due to erosion that prevented us from accessing the beach outside our cabana)? Absolutey not. Disney a premium cruise line and it was not a premium experience.
My son now refers to it as the "torture pier" in our house, and when we booked on the Destiny and he found out we'd be going to LC again, he burst into tears on the spot until I reassured him we could stay on the ship.
I will also say, we talked to people who did qualify to use the golf cart and they were very disappointed as well as they were obliged to separate from their family and were confused about where to meet up.
So when people say it is overblown, okay that may true for you, but disney is normally so good about being inclusive of neurodivergent kids and it was an absolute fail from our perspective.
