Is your mother "Mom" or "Ma?"

Mom or Mo. I don't think either my brother or I have ever called her Ma.

MS girl all my life (37)-my mother is mama, and I am mama to my kids. My father is daddy. Ds12 calls dh "dada"-always has, and dd10 calls him daddy. Katie isn't really talking yet! Dh claims she is calling him dadadadada though!

Dh doesn't really talk to his mother much, but usually calls her "mom." His father is dad or daddy.

Neither of us has ever called our in-laws by anything other than their names, or the names the kids call them (granny, pa, Big Mama (my 90 yr old grandmother), nana, papaw, pawpaw, mawmaw)

I call my mom, "Ma" or sometimes "Mama" if I'm trying to make a point to the old southern broad, I call her by her first name "Stella" but then she just gives me "the look" so then I go back to calling her "Mama". I call my dad, "Papa" "Pop" or "Daddy"

My kids call me different names. My DS12 calls me "Mom". My DD14 calls me Mommy, my DS7 calls me Mama

When I was a kid, my mom and dad both called my gram (mom's mom) "Ma". So in order to prevent confusion, mom was always "Mom". And always will be.

It's funny, the one thing that annoyed me most about the Twilight series was the way Bella always called her parents by their names. For some reason I found that offensive.

Southern girl here.....It was always Mama and Daddy.

Mom most of the time (I'm 36) but have called her Mumma. I've even been known to call her Mumsie every once in a while.

Mother
My sister and I started calling her that when we were teenagers in that sarcastic teenage type voice. It sort of stuck so we call her that now all the time. My sil and her sister think it's the weirdest thing and they laugh at us every time they hear one of us say it. :rotfl:

AS a little kid Mommy- now Mom or Claude (her name is Claudia) Now I am Mommy/ or Mom and she is Mama my step dad was Dad , then KK (his initails weird I don't remember how that happened) now he is Papa KK

Grew up in New England and I always called my Mom, "Mom".

Starting at about 14, my sister and I called her Claire (her name) as a joke - and it stuck (she liked it). We call her Claire all the time now - and I am far past 14 - LOL. In fact - she won't get the kids call her grandma, they all call her Claire. It's her choice.

My 2 youngest kids (9 and 7) call me Mom. My oldest who is 10 calls me Mama. I respond to either ;)

Both.

When referring to her, I called her my mom. But if I was calling out to her, or used it in a conversation with her it was generally "Ma". Sometimes it was Mom, though... I guess it was both.

Same goes for my kids. They do the same thing.
