Is UBER in Anaheim

Yes...they are all over Anaheim area and the DL area. They are my transportation of choice. Uber X and Uber Black are both permitted to pick up and drop off at SNA.

They just came to Oregon, only in Portland for now, every one loves them but cab company. What am i looking to pay from Airport to Disneyland? Do you tip the guys? I have never used it? Do they have people that can carry large group?

I was listening to a recent episode of the Dis unplugged Disneyland edition, and I believe Tony said he used Uber from the airport and it cost him $70. I could be wrong but that number sticks out in my mind.

Which airport? The tip is included in the fare.

Now that is a good question? What Airport should i be flying into?

There's no one right answer. LAX is the furthest but airfares are often cheapest to there. SNA is closest but flights are often more expensive. LGB is in between.

The Uber website doesn't show Uber Black being available from SNA. I assume they're just behind since people are using it... Are car seats available for a 4-year old? If so, how much? May prefer to spend the few extra bucks to obtain speed over waiting for the Disneyland Express bus.

SNA to DL area:

Uber X (average Joe driver in a regular car) $16-$22
Uber XL (larger vehicle that can take 4 adults) $30-$40
Uber Black (town car or better) $56-$73
Uber SUV (large black SUV) $72-$92

For reference, cab is about $45 plus tip.

No traffic is on the lower end of the scale...upper end may be with heavy traffic depending on when you travel

Car seat availability is hit and miss. If you are dependent on that, I would schedule a shuttle or reserved car service that will have that available.

No tipping with Uber (you can, but not at all expected or required like a cab) and driver never sees your financial information or handing of of money. It is all done through the app and a great system.

Thank you that is very helpful, I'm grandpa and never even though about the car seats

Now that is a good question? What Airport should i be flying into?

If you are coming from Portland you should look into Alaska flights into SNA. We are from Seattle and always fly into SNA. It's such a nice small airport you'll be out of there within 30 minutes with checked bags. If you book flights enough in advance it's usually around $119 each way and it you go during the offseason for air travel when they run their specials I believe it's around $89.

Just want to second what Imdboss said. I always find better deals flying Alaska into SNA. I just bought our tickets for August on Tuesday and was super happy with the price. Especially since our trip is still during the summer. SNA is so much easier to navigate and deal with than LAX.

Have not booked flight yet, we have a very large party ( 18 ) and am looking at flying in to San Diego for $52 round trip on Spirit( i know i hate them too) and get some kind of bus to get us to Disneyland? Just a thought? Im checking into all of it now. We are coming up to Seattle today… We run a Medical Marijuana Dispensary and bringing employees and family, we have people we work with in San Diego and they are helping us.

Do you know the rates for LAX to DL?
  • uberX

    $42-55

  • uberXL

    $76-99

  • UberPLUS

    $94-123

  • UberBLACK

    $134

  • UberSUV

    $165-213

  • UberLUX

    $194-251
You can just Google "Uber Los Angeles" or "Uber Orange County" (or whatever city you want) and there is a fare estimator on their web page...as well as their app.

I have never used Uber before, but thinking of doing so in August. Do you book a pick-up in advance, or the day of? This is all new to me! :)

It is an "on demand" service, no pre-arranging. You need a smart phone then download the Uber app and set up an account ahead of time. Super simple and free.

Once you arrive, you open the app and you select the level of service you want and it will show you available cars and estimated time to pick you up. You then request a car...driver arrives and takes you to destination. Once you arrive you get out and you are done. No paying the driver, no tips, no credit card info changing hands. It is all done through Uber corporate and the app. Uber charges your card, then Uber pays the driver. You will see a rating on the driver once your ride is confirmed and you will have an opportunity to rate your ride. The whole system is based on user ratings so the drivers give a crap unlike taxi drivers that have no incentive to offer good service.

You can request a fare ahead of time...but I never do. Driver can not cheat you other than taking the scenic route but their user rating is the most coveted thing and most would not risk a lower rating for a few bucks which is why the system works so well.

The basic levels of service are:

Uber X: Average Joe driver like you and me in their personal cars. Uber has a minimum standard for the cars that can be used and drivers go through their background check and are covered under Uber's insurance, but it is very much getting picked up in a personal car.

Uber XL: Same average driver just in a bigger vehicle that can accommodate 4 people

Uber Black: Black town car or better...this is similar to the service and car you would get by hiring a car service. Usually more professional and professionally dressed drivers. Often limo services filling time between scheduled fares and a lot that are purely Uber drivers.

Uver SUV: Same as Black but a SUV like a Chevy Suburban that can take more folks

On average Uber X is 20% cheaper than a cab, Uber Black is 20-30% more than a cab.

Thank you, that is very helpful. I see the rates above, has anyone had to pay more than that?

What about making the return trip to the airport? We will need an early morning pickup….around 6:30 a.m. Is that a problem? I'm trying to decide if I should give Uber a try or stick with something tried and true like Super Shuttle.
