Is Tony's Town Square really that bad?

We took the kids into Tony's early on during a vacation a few years ago, and enjoyed it enough that we returned for a second lunch before the end of the vacation. Great atmosphere and a great way to get a little relief from the heat. We didn't have any complaints about the food or the service, both above average with respect to our expectation at Disney. We're going to try dinner there next trip.

I say give it a go. It's definitely worth a try, in my book.

We've been to Tony's at least three times and have made ADR's for our September trip. We've always had good food, killer desserts, and great service. One server in particular -- Tom -- went out of his way to make our evening special. He was fun for the kids when they were young (he spoke with a *great* fake Italian accent part of the time), and oh, he was so nice to us, the adults.

I remember that "Lady & the Tramp II" was playing on the TV out in the lobby, so Tom kept sending the kids out there to watch the movie, saying, "Now, ze momma and ze poppa must have zee fab-oo-luss romantic eefnink.... zee kiddies must go watch ze mooofie!" That was in between every course of dinner. We loved Tom so much, we marched ourselves right over to Town Hall and filled out a comment sheet giving him commendation for his incredible service!

The food is good. Yes, the spaghetti and meatballs is expensive, but our daughter *loved* it, and the expression on her face when she saw how big the meatball was made it worth it. ROFL!!!!

One year, we saw a terrible thing -- a bunch of teenagers sneaked out without paying their tab. The server almost cried, he was so upset, and the manager soothed him and made him feel better about the situation. That... really tells me a lot about how the restaurant is run. Y'know?

All restaurants get bad reviews every once in a while. I, personally, am not eager to try Spoodles or Teppanyaki again. But sometimes you just get a good meal on a good night. I hope that if you decide to try Tony's Town Square, you have as good an experience as I've always had there!

My husband and I used to eat there all the time until we stopped going to the MK as often because of the family crowds. We liked it alot. Don't rely on other peoples experiences to go or not. Make your own opinion.

Some of the best dining experiences I've had on my last few trips to WDW have been at Tony's. The food has been great and slightly unique and the service has always been the best we've received at any WDW restaurants. I have to confess that I've never had pasta there, but the sandwiches and desserts were above par when we were there last September and I had a fabulous chicken dish there at dinner a couple of years ago.

I'm also very grateful to Tony's because they saved my family two times now. The first time we were there on an e-ticket night and it was raining so hard out that we were completely drenched and hungry with no place to find food. We were so miserable when we found out that we couldn't even find a decent counter service restaurant open in the park that the rest of the family was ready to call it a day at approx. 7pm. So I called WDW-DINE and asked them if there was availability at ANY restaurant in the park and they booked us at Tony's. We arrived there completely drenched and looking horrible, but they treated us to first class service and excellent food. They even gave us bags for our wet ponchos upon request. It was the bright spot to an evening that could have tarnished the rest of our trip.

The second time was my sister's 21st birthday last September and once again we decided to wing it for lunch and ended up wanting a table service restaurant for lunch. So we went to Tony's and I asked the CM outside if there was any possibility that they could seat us (I was afraid they would be filled up with advance reservations due to the free dining plan in place then), but she happily said that they could seat us immediately. When we walked inside they told us to wait just a couple of minutes while they set up our table and only seconds later they led us to a table that was already decorated with confetti and streamers for my sister's birthday. We had an excellent lunch and some impressive desserts. The free sundae they served my sister for dessert was really huge and delicious (it had some sort of nut topping) and her favorite of any birthday freebie she received on that trip. Tony's made her feel very special without embarrassing her horribly and she still thinks very fondly of that meal (even more so than her dinner at 'Ohana that night).

So don't be afraid to try Tony's, you may be very pleasantly surprised like we were. :)
