I think if the person in the picture has seen this thread and is embarrassed and/or irritated by it, she could email the OP or a mod and have the thread deleted or locked.

Otherwise, we have to assume she hasn't seen it at all. Or is maybe keeping quiet about it.

Or, heck, maybe she'll come in tomorrow and see the thread and think it's the funniest thing ever. :p

I happen to think this is all in fun, and can't see how anyone can see it any other way.

That said, let me tell you about some pictures being sold off and on on eBay, and eBay says they aren't doing anything illegal. People take pics of young boys/children on the beach, without shirts on (some have been taken in Disney pools and water parks..I've recognized the backgrounds..and it's just kids having a good time). They put them on eBay under the guise of "scrapbooking" backgrounds and sell them about 60-70 pics to a disk. They got about $30-60 dollars for them. What seems as innocent pics of your kids playing on the beach, end up being sold as "boys without shirts" on eBay. These people apparently have really good camera's, since the pics are so clear. Several of us have written to eBay and asked to have the aucitons shut down, as they are obviously targeting a "bad" audience, and they seem to be random shots..so who knows whose kids they are. Sometimes they take them down, but most often they don't. Why am I looking for these pics? Because once it was brought to our attention on an eBay board, some of us thought we could help keep them off of eBay.

That is really disturbing. :(

I think we'd all be happier sticking to the intent of this thread, rather than converting it into something that just gets people upset. Privacy and 'stalking' threads are always welcomed on the Community board.

I took that to mean moving the privacy discussion to the Community Board and not the whole thread. Yes, I agree the entire thread does not belong in this forum.

Yeah, she may laugh about it but what if she doesn't? What if shes hiding from a crazy ex or doesn't want someone to know she was there, doubtful but ya never know, lol. I guess thats my point, we don't know and we are drawing the attention of 75000 people to view it over and over again. I kept my mouth shut until people starting joking around with taking and posting other pics of people...had to say something before someone thought it was a good idea, lol.

Anyways, I just realized that the more I yak, the more times this picture is being seen sooooooooo time for me to zip it. :)

The DIS fanny pack as seen in the DIS Shop

I just zoomed in on that person's pack, and there doesn't appear to be any printing on the front of it. Unless there was a prior version of the pack that only had printing along the belt - line, I'm thinking that she is not wearing an DIS pack, just a green one.

Hippychickali - I know next to nothing about religion in Canada, but I'm really (honestly) shocked a minister can not ask for prayers for sick members of a church, you can't even use just their first name?

Nope, no prior version of the DIS fanny pack! And lime is an enormously popular color right now.

Look.......sorry everybody. I didn't intend on this thread to get so out of hand. I thought maybe the person in the picture would like a copy of it and I thought I'd seen a DISer. I very innocently (& accidentally) posted here because if I saw myself, I'd think it was a hoot and introduce myself. I guess I just thought we were one big happy family of DIS people and didn't see how anyone could "track" someone down with the intent of harm. I do have this same picture posted on the CB, but nobody has claimed it there either. I think if the lady (or people) in the picture were offended and scared to be put on the boards, she would at least PM me and ask me, or a mod, to delete it....but, nothing so far. Believe me, if she asked me to get rid of it, I would.
I just wanted to apologize to everyone cause I thought this would be neat to see if she was a DISer.....I didn't mean for this to get so out of control.....:(

OP

Why are you apologizing!!! I would have thought it was cute if it was me too. Even if I thought it was an unattractive picture of myself, I would have PMed you and ask you to remove it!!! Disboards member do not reflect being the happiest place in Cyberspace - considering it’s suppose to reflect Disney - the happiest place on earth. It may or may not be true, but sometimes we appear so unhappy :sunny:. I'm sure I'll be flamed for this but come on people - haven't you wondered how many strangers have your picture!!!!:wave2:

I do love you all at Disboards... So be gentle!!!!!!

How can some people be such "dorks" about an innocent thread? Get a life people!!!!!!

You have nothing to appologize for. Your post was completely innocent.. If it had been me in that picture, I'd have thought it was cool.

Ditto! Don't worry about it ;)

I've been silently watching this discussion, but I have to say something now. The OP has absolutely no reason to appologize for this thread. I think some people can find something to complain about with every thread...and they often do. This thread was meant for a little fun and in no way was this woman made fun of by anyone who has commented. The majority of the comments I have seen have been to the affect of wanting to know if the woman is actually a DISer. I think it's funny and if it were me, I'd definitely get a kick out of it. I wouldn't care if it was the worst photo ever. It's all in good fun.

P.S. - I have had a stalker before and I know it's not fun, but I don't see how a random photo on a Disney board could cause someone to stalk this woman who nobody knows!

Find something good to complain about...like how long it takes for your countdown clock to get to zero!!! ::yes::

I think you need to get a life! I agree the OP didn't really need to apologize, because I believe it was meant to be innocent fun. But it's nice to see she has some respect and consideration for other's feelings on the matter. She isn't so narrow minded that she thinks someone is a "dork" just because they don't feel the same way she does.

ETA: By the way, I didn't feel the need to complain when I saw the picture on here. It just really aggravated me when a couple posts said maybe everyone wouldn't appreciate having their picture posted like this and instead of people saying "I didn't think of that" they got defensive and basically said "I don't feel that way so who cares?"

Thanks for everyone who supports me and understands where I'm coming from. This was an innocent post about a sighting of a possible DISer at MK....that's all. I meant no harm and have learned (many years ago) "you can't please ALL the people ALL the time". My apologies are that this thread has gotten so crazy...I don't apologize for posting the picture in the first place...like I said, I did it very innocently. As for that countdown clock...... let's move it!! Count faster!!!

I think you are missing the point. I think everyone would agree that your original post was done with good intentions and for fun. But as well all know, the road to hell is paved with good intentions (case in point).

Other people were simply pointing out to you (myself included) that not everyone might appreciate having there picture posted on the internet. Your response is if someone doesn't like it they should tell me and I'll remove it. That's nice of you but if it were a photo of my private moments with my family that you chose to plaster on the internet I would be, quite frankly, hopping mad. You have the power to avoid this and you won't. Many people are upset for this person because she did not consent to the drawing of attention to her in this way (even going so far as to make a wanted poster).

This woman may find this funny or might be offended. You really don't know. Therefore, you don't have the right to make assumptions. And to the name-callers and hair-pullers, can't you think of a mature way to express yourselves?

But, happychikcali, you are missing the point...

It wasn't a photo of a private moment. If you are in a public place it is a public moment and there should be no expectation of privacy (anonymity, yes but not privacy -- there is a difference).

You can't be serious Hippychickali.

You are now name-calling!!! It’s just a difference of opinion. That doesn't make you right and everyone who doesn't agree with you wrong. I think its immature to call names when people don't agree with opinions - and thats all they are - OPINIONS!!!

Come on Disboards - lets agree to disagree before the board is erased or closed - unless that’s what others want anyway.

I can't believe that it could be considered a problem posting the picture. If the poster and their real name were posted without their permission, that would be different, but just a picture? We all take the chance (the likely chance) that our picture will be taken by a stranger when we are in such a public place. Of course it's not usually posted on a discussion board, but it could be printed in a newspaper or other media, put in a photo album, etc. I still don't see how it's a big deal.
