Moments ago I spoke with a reservation specialist for the on-site hotels. I was told that during spring break months, there are NO discounts available, including AAA. So, currently if I wanted to book a room during the first week of April the LEAST expensive room would be $319 at RPR :scared1: , $349 at HRH :scared1: :scared1: and $379 at PBH :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:. Is this true????

Here is something else kind of annoying. I also asked about seasonal rate dates changing from year to year and was informed that yes, those dates do change each year and they are determined by "marketing". According to the published information, reservations can be made 50 weeks in advance. I asked the reservations specialist if this was, in fact, true and she said yes. So I asked if the dates for 2008 rates were published and she said no, they didn't get 2007 rates until July, 06. I asked how they booked room then, if they weren't sure of the rates and she said they wouldn't do it.

Maybe during Easter week (first week in April) there are no discounts. I just checked April 16-18 and there are AAA rates available. The discounts are not huge but I think the reservationist was confuzzled. I also checked March and there are AAA discounts.

People book quite far in advance for standard rates and then rebook as lower rates come out. It is done all the time. I think the person you spoke to was quite new.

Spring break in Orlando is the 1st two weeks of April. Anytime the park stays open until 10pm, that's when they expect it to be packed. That's peak time and I wouldn't expect any discounts. The high room price could be justified by the parks staying open until 10pm, and then you get to see the 360 show.

Hi if u book via orange vacations you will save about $30 per night, frp, the 30th march for 2 weeks the rates are pretty extreme, I've booked via a UK agent and managed to get RPR for 30th and 31st March for $160 cheaper than through Loews, for that saving I'll buy my own free gift:thumbsup2

Is spring break in Orlando ALWAYS the first two weeks of April, or does that change from year to year depending on Easter? Knowing that would help, although my guess is they will incorporate the last week or two of March, 2008 into the "spring break" timeframe due to the date of Easter.

We are going at the end of March and paying $299.00 per night at the HRH!

Keep calling in and checking the rates. The last 2 trips to RP we have gotten
lower rates closer to the date of travel.

It's not a guarantee especially with Easter thrown in there.

Good Luck!

This is more in line with what we are willing to pay. I'll be interested to hear about your trip when you return. Especially HRH tips, if you pick up any. Thanks!

The fact is that Spring Break in grade school differs vastly form one county to the next througout the country.

Some school systems have a single break in between New Years and Summer, which usually falls between the fourth week in March and the second week of April. Usually one week, but sometimes two.

However, many schools systems have TWO breaks between New Years and Summer. These breaks sometimes occurs as early as the first week of March or as late as the last week of April.

About 40% of kids get off in the first two weeks of April, so that will be the most crowded. The others are spread out in the other weeks of March and April, but not equally. The farther away from Easter, the fewer will be on break.

Exactly! That is why I was wondering if spring break in Orlando was always the first two weeks in April as posted, or what. Spring break varies from district to district, at least in my state, so I figured anytime in March and April will be busy and more expensive. My hope is, however, that the week my children are on break will not be one considered Holiday as far as the onsite hotels are concerned. There is about a $50 per night difference between Peak and Holiday rates. That could be the deal breaker. . . .

Always keep checking. We were told that the weekend we were going in June had no discounts so we did not book. About a week later I called again and a block of rooms were opened up and I got a great rate at Portofino Bay.

I just called for Dec. 28, 2007. She said no AAA discount because of Christmas. So 319 for RP seems pricey. I will keep checking. Does anyone have any experience with this time frame.

THANKS

It might be too far out :confused3 We had to wait until 3-6 months before our trip last year until the rates were out, and even then .. they weren't too great.

I live in Orlando and our spring breaks do vary from year to year. This year it is March 12-16. Next year it is March 31-April 4. The surrounding counties usually break the week before or the week after.

We are going on a Disney cruise this year and I thought about getting a room at HRH for a couple of nights before. The lowest rate I've found is $269 (FL resident).

Don't know about spring break but the AAA rate I got for the PBH with an upgrade to a suite is $229 for June 30 to July 4.

We do have AAA but I didn't think to ask for that rate. Guess I'll be calling back! Thanks!

Is it best to call the Portofino direct and ask for the AAA rate, or book through AAA website. I already have a standard room booked, but AAA has a better room with a cheaper rate. If I call the hotel will they honor, or is it best to cancel and go through AAA. I have never booked a hotel on AAA website, and am a little leary:confused: Any info is greatly appreciated!!

We just booked HRH for $269 for April 12th through the AAA website. So it looks like they've released some discount rates for the beginning of April. Good luck!

We got Portofino Bay for $287 per night for March 8 & 9 with AAA discount.
