Is this tacky?

Absolutely let them wear them! My DD has the winter and summer versions of those gowns and they're acceptable for that dinner. We've seen children in similar at several Disney meals :)

I say yes in a big way and take pictures!!! And to o2bnoz, right on with your right on!!!

My DDs are 6 and 10. We are flying this time around and are having to pack super light, so we couldn't bring along their princess costumes. They both got some very pretty princess nightgowns for Christmas (called "flutter gowns" from Disney shopping). Would it be tacky if they wore these to the 1900 Park Fare "Happily Ever After Dinner?" One is Snow white, one is a yellow Tiana nightgown. They are both tall for their age and I'm afraid this won't fly w/ kids this old....

Why would that be tacky? They're kids! If it makes them happy, please let them wear them!

I say no. I know my girls (7 and 10) would not want to wear them. Actually, if my girls saw other girls wearing them they would point out to me, mom, look, they're wearing pajamas. I think they definitely look like nightgowns to me. Very pretty, though.

I think not only is it ok, I think it is a good idea. So many of the princess dresses are just uncomfortable and over the top. I love the nightgowns like the one you are talking about because they are simple and seem much more comfortable, especially if you are going in the heat. I think some of the over glittered, over puffy actual dresses I see in the parks are tackier than the nightgowns. Most don't even look like the actually princess dress.

I have seen them in the store and they definitely look like a nightgown. I vote no.

Have you thought of using the "space saver compression/vacuum storage bags? We used these in May and they worked extremely well.

I hope you and your princess:princess: have a Magical trip!!

I bought my granddaughter one to wear to CRT breakfast. To me it doesnt look like a night gown at all.. Much prettier than a costume. I say yes if they are ok with wearing them.

I don't think I would let my dd wear it in public. It's cute, but not exactly "costume" material.

Awwww..... those nightgowns are beautiful! I will never get to experience that... I only have a son!:

Sons grow up to have grand daughters== which is even better.
I have three sons and waited a lifetime to experience all this- Now I have a grand daughter--age 4 and we are headed to the world for her first visit.

I think those PJs are lovely and we would do it if we didnt have the dresses

If they want to wear them, let them wear them. Kids are only little once and who will care in the future what they wore to a princess dinner in the future? DD is 12 and wants to do PL this year. I'm doing it. She won't even want me around a couple of years from now.
I vote to let them wear the dress. I don't know if I would have them wear them in the parks all day, but I'm sure that dinner would be fine.

Depends on how developed your ten year old is - and how sheer the top part of the gown is. We've had similar nightgowns from the Disney Store, and as my girls got older, there's no way I would let them out in public without another layer on under that type of nightgown.

I think the PJs are cuter than most of the starchy uncomfortable Princess dresses you see in the parks. To tell you the truth if the pics didn't say they were PJs I would never have known.

An aside to all the adults who wear their lounging PJs out in public....they really do look tacky coming into a store. These little gowns don't. <VBG>

I've seen teenagers wearing fleece pajama pants at the mall, at school, and just walking down the road. So what difference is it if a young girl were to wear a gown to dinner that looks like it could be pjs or could be a dress? That nightgown looks much classier than fleece pj pants!!!!

I think that as long as they are covered up enough, if they want to wear them and they are happy, what difference does it make?

When I was a kid, my mom let my sister wear an old auntie's slip to school as a dress (with a t-shirt under). We used it as play clothes and my sister wanted to wear it all day. Not what mom would have picked, but she was covered as much as she would have been in any dress and it wasn't hurting anything.

I've seen these teens (and some adults) wearing this stuff in Disney too.

I would say if your girls want to wear them, it's fine. I actually saw girls wearing something similar to those last October when we were staying at POP. Of course, I have no idea if they were going to eat/parks with them or just wearing them to the food court for breakfast.

I was going to suggest tights underneath -- if they look like that picture. As long as the top isn't see-through I don't see it as a problem. And as long as the girls are comfortable with it -- so what.

They are kids...trust me they will not be out of place wearing them as dresses. As long as its not too short, see thru, or revealing in anyway. I strongly doubt anyone will notice unless you tell them they are pjs. It's no big deal.:wizard:

They look great, absolutely.

If they were labeled as dresses in the link, not a word would be said here. As they are labeled as pj's, a cause for commotion.
