Is sharing a refillable drink at McDonalds "stealing"?

A couple of my friends were debating this the other day and I'm curious to see if there is an opinion on the DIS!

well, me and my boyfriend do it at the movies, so i guess we are tacky!! but then, my dog barks too, so we are just all around riff-raff!!

I'm disgusted by you! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We do it at the movies, too. Have you seen the size of those vats they call cups!!! :earseek:

My movie theater does not have refillable drinks. But, IMO, its dishonest to purchase a refillable drink and share it amongst others, unless you do not fill it up. I have no problem with ordering a large and sharing as long as you dont refill.

Well, I bought a refillable mug at Disney and shared it with my dd5. :duck:

Yeah, there's definitely a difference between sharing a refillable drink and sharing a regular drink. I guess this is along the same lines as sharing at a buffet.

Yes.

If two people can share a refillable cup why not ten?
Should you be able to share a plate at an all-you-can-eat buffet?

Where do you draw the line?

I don't think it's tacky or stealing. Life is too short to start acting as the soda police.

Oh that is so perfect!!!

We do this and never once thought twice about it.

And you can bet your sweet butt that if Mcdonalds cared, they would have kept the soda fountain on the other side of the counters.

Before I get flamed, let me specify that by "we" I mean me (not much of a soda drinker) and my sons.

Not me and 20 of my best friends.

If sharing is stealing, we are all going to hell.

Yes, it's stealing! Boy am I glad that I am sooooooo much better than that. Geez, what kind of message are you all who share refillable sodas sending to your children? They will grow up to be the kind of people who take a handful of little ketchup packets and put them in their purse for later. For shame, for shame!

Sharing is not stealing, stealing is stealing. Why not keep your cup and just bring it with you the next time. No one is being the "soda police", question asked and answers and opinions offered. The majority of people would agree that it is stealing.

My DH and I have done it for years and have never thought of it as stealing. Asking for a cup for water and then getting soda is stealing to me. No where at McDonald's or any other fast food place does it say anything about it being one drink per person. At a buffet it does state that if you plan to eat you must pay for the buffet. McDonald's knows that people do it and if they had a problem with it I'm sure they would do something about it.

Ain't this the truth!

I've never done it, but there are times I take my nieces to lunch, and they don't drink a full drink--if the 2 yr old drinks half a kid's drink, I'm shocked--and I've been tempted to have her share some of her sister's. But then there would be only 1 toy!

And Rick is right--I don't feel like being the soda/drink police.

I always buy one drink for me and youngest son as he rarely has more than a sip or two and I try to limit his soda anyway. I know the local McD's manager and she said the cups actually cost them more than the soda.

I suppose I just have no sense of decency since we only bought 3 refillable Poly mugs over Christmas instead of 5. Hubby & I drank coffee in morning and the boys drank soda or hot chocolate at night. I never even gave it a thought.

It also doesn't say you cant walk behind the counter and help yourself to the fries either, its assumed that you can't. And McDonalds wouldn't include a drink in each value meal if they thought it is ok to order just one drink for your entire family and keep refilling it.
