Is this right?

I was checking in SSR 8:30 am with a request for Springs that I booked 11 months out. I know its just a request, anyway she said we have a room ready and I said great. She then took out the resort map and circled a building in the Carousel section, I said oh I thought you had one in the Springs Im sorry. She said no, so I asked if anyone was checking out of the Springs and I would be glad to wait. She looked and made eye contact with another CM and then said we do but they are all ready reserved. I thought that was strange, anyway she checked the Granstand and found me a great room, so why was she trying to put me in the Carousel and why were the rooms in the Springs reserved? She said there were plenty of rooms at the Grandstand but would not say that untill I asked. anyway we had a great room and great trip. Just wondering.

Perhaps they were blocked for a special event, like a family reunion. I know when we check into OKW, and have guests who will be in their own room, we request to be near each other. The multiple rooms are often pre-blocked so part of our party isn't too far from the other part of group. It may be be that a group had requested several rooms near each other AND the Springs section, so they were blocked.

Also, I know they block several rooms occasionally for security for visiting VIPs, like Jimmy Carter or other celebrities.

Hi, Huff, just to add another possibility...When we checked in to SSR in February, we had requested Springs also. We were told that due to a convention no rooms were available in the Springs - they had booked everything available there. Like you, we were put elsewhere (Congress Park) and were just as happy there.

Sounds like more than an occasional occurrence that rooms in the Springs are totally unavailable, so I'm wondering if SSR is popular with conventioners?

I am assuming that SSR also has rooms blocked in early June for a convention, it is the overflow resort for bookings through that site, as the "host resort" is fully booked.
