Is this right? (banking questions)

I'm a lttle unsure about when banked points need to be used. If I had a September use year and banked 06 points, my understanding is that those points need to be used by the last day of August 08. And that "used" mean trip finished, not just a reservation made.

Is this right?

Yes you are correct. With a September Use Year:

2006 points are valid for stays Sep 1, 2006 - Aug 31, 2007
2007 points are valid for stays Sep 1, 2007 - Aug 31, 2008
2008 points are valid for stays Sep 1, 2008 - Aug 31, 2009

If you bank the '06 points, they are valid for stays Sep 1, 2007 - Aug 31, 2008. And yes, that means the points can only be used for stays on those nights. If your trip runs into Sep '08, you would have to use points from '08 Use Year for those nights.

The date you actually make a reservation has nothing to do with use year or points expiring. Making a reservation does not "use" points in your sense of the word.
