Is this normal for check-in parking at BCV?

I don't think I would ever consider parking in the portico while checking in. There are usually parking spots close by that are reserved for people checking in and that's where I always park.

Of course maybe that resort is set up different?

Aside from the issue with the rude valet, I tend to think that most of the misunderstanding on how to use that front area is coming from people who are accustomed to using valet, but for one reason or another choose not to anymore. Years of driving up, hopping out of the vehicle and having the car out of sight out & of mind are now over and the change to dropping off the bags with bell services, parking the car, and then entering the building to check in feels wrong to them.

Personally, my vehicle costs a heck of a lot more than my Disney vacations. I don't pass off my car to just anyone, nor will I park it where it may need to be moved. I don't understand why anyone would want to park out in such an unstable area.

If you don't think it's wrong to park at the entrance, then consider this: it's a fire hazard to leave your car there unattended.

Again, we were not trying to park in the portico area. We were trying to park out of the way and not along the red-curbed fire zone. (As close to the bridge as possible without being in the fire zone.) There were two cars already parked there, but for whatever reason, they wouldn't let us park there. We would have been more than happy to have one of us stay with the car.

My comment was directed at others posting in this thread who say they have always parked at the front door area. I didn't want any one person to feel attacked so didn't quote anyone. I apologize if you thought it was directed at you!

Chances are the other 2 cars parked where you wanted to park were waiting for the car runner (valet) to move them.

Always pull the car up to the portico, take the luggage out and drive the car to parking. DW & DS watch the luggage while I go check in. We each have one rolling bag and maybe a shoulder bag.

Never had a problem or question or dirty look.

Only use bell service when we check out.

I just returned from BCV. When we arrived we had a couple of CM's come to the car under the portico. One started unloaded the vehicle with my DD and DW staying there while they unloaded and the other CM walked me into the resort to the front desk clerk. Once I checked in I went to guest services and bought a park pass and then went out and moved my car to self parking...The same thing I have always done at all the resorts that have the porticos.
