My darling daughter is missing two of the three Chipmunks from McDonald's Happy Meals. So I just got and ate two happy meals (at my desk) so she could have them. Love or Insanity. I vote insanity.

Yes, you can purchase the toys separately. No need to eat 2 meals of McDs. And we have 2 of the chipettes but no 'munks.

It is the least she can do. I recognize your sacrifice and surely it will go down as a great myth for generations of parents and heroes to emulate.

(Remembers beanie-baby breakfasts out the wazoo when that madness was across the nation about 10-12 years ago and they would go through the hoard of beanie babies in a day and you had to time the 10 different McD's in your neighborhood to ensure you got all that year's models).

My DD, who is 2.5 LOVES the Chimpmunks and Chipettes, so when I saw mcDonalds was going to have them in their Happy Meals, I knew I would have to get them for her.

My dad - who is Pop Pop to my DD - and my DD are VERY close. He would do anything for her. I told him about the Happy Meals and he calls me yesterday and said he went on "Operation Chipmunk". He started talking to one of the cashiers at McDonalds - just chatting with her and then tells her he really needs ALL of the Chipmunks and Chipettes! She told him that they only give out one per week. He tells her he really needs them and he would buy them if it was possible. She says they cant do that, then goes to the back and gets EVERY SINGLE TOY and gives them to my dad!!! Except they were out of Alvin! I dont know how he managed to do it, but my DD thinks he is the best Pop Pop in the world!

Ugh, on the opposite end, my mother and I still have BOXES of Beanie Babies (full sized and Happy Meal toys) in the attic. I don't like McDonald's, but I had to eat so many freakin happy meals for HER to be able to get the Beanies that I vowed never again. Once we learned the "purchase the toys on their own" secret, life was so much better....
