Is this an authentic Coach purse? *UPDATE: Pg 4*

Went Goodwill Hunting with my sister today and found what I think may be an authentic Coach purse. I've never owned a Coach purse, so I thought I'd ask here in hopes that some of you have experience with this type of thing.

Anyway, it's a black leather bag, no pattern, and it's fairly heavy to be its size. The zipper is very sturdy as well. Here are some pictures of the purse. I took these with my cell phone so they aren't the best, but hopefully you'll get the idea. I've Googled how to spot a fake, but most tips are about the pattern bags and such. Any help would be appreciated. If you're wondering, I paid $1.50 for the purse, so if it's a fake I'm not out much.

the creed patch inside the bag looks a little off. I'm leaning toward fake but would have to see more pix.

I don't recognize the style either. Can you post a better picture that shows the actual entire purse? Top, and straps as well as the full side?

Thanks for the replies. It feels like real leather to me and DH says it's real leather. Here is another picture. I've included my sunglasses so you can get a feel of the size of the purse (not that it really matters, lol). I've posted a top view of the purse too. Thanks, again.

This looks like an authentic vintage style Coach. I have friends who absolutely hate the new Coach and prefer when the company did all-leather. I own several authentic Coach purses myself -directly from Dillards/Coach retail stores- and I've had to send in the newer style fabric/patchwork handbags for repairs several times. However, my all-leather have held up everytime.

Check your zipper and see if it has the YKK engraving. Coach uses high quality zippers.

That appears to be a vintage Bonnie Cashin era Coach. It's tough to tell if it's authentic because the creed is fuzzy in your pics. Sometimes they are stamped Made In United States, or Made In NYC. There are purse forums that can help authenticate.

You can give her bath, just fill a sink with cold water, some dish soap and scrub. Rinse her off, pat her dry, fill her with a towel to soak up the wetness. Change towels frequently. Then, apply a good leather moisturizer and she will look fab!

I love adopting and restoring old Coach bags. They should get a second life!

That looks just like a Coach bag, I had in the 80s. I wish I had kept all my Coach bags. I do have a couple from back then, but I gave away most of them.

Definitely an older Coach pocketbook, circa late 80s or early 90s. Great find!!

One way I can always tell a bag is fake, is if the zipper goes futher than it should. Like, it doesn't stop where the purse does, it goes a bit further, and hangs over the bag. All fake Luis Vuitton bags do that, and its a dead give away. That and the fact that they fake ones leather doesn't oxydize (sp?) and darken with age.....

That bag reminds me of one they have on their website right now. It's called the Basic Bag. It's under the Coach Originals category on the website if you want to take a peek. Looks quite a bit like it. Looks like they might be bringing a few of the older styles back on the site, which is awesome. Great find OP!

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, I would guess it was fake, I can't image the Goodwill store would only ask a 1.50 for it. or one of the employees didn't buy it before it went out on the floor.

I was going to mention the same thing about the zipper. That part (where the zipper ends) was cut-off in the picture. Looks real to me. The style is older so I'd guess it's real. Were fake Coach bags even produced back in the late 80s?

There is also a good chance they don't pay attention at all to incoming stuff... they just have a set policy on what items cost and they mark them accordingly.
