Is this a good rate for President's week?

Looking ahead to President's week 2006. I decided just to look at car rental rates and found a base rate of $133.99 for a Ford Escape. With taxes and surcharge the total cost was $161.26. This is picking up at the Holiday Inn Universal on Saturday 2/18/06 and returning to MCO Saturday 2/25/06. Since we are possibly planning on doing Universal 2/15-2/18 I don't need a car since we would stay onsite. So I looked for a pick up location close to Universal. I think we'll be renting a condo 2/18-2/25 so we'll need a car. Usually we just go to Disney and never rent a car. So I'm curious if this price is a good one? I don't rent cars much so I'm not sure?

Under $200 for a small SUV for a holiday week? I'd say that's a pretty good rate. The beauty thing too is that you can make the reservation, and if you find a cheaper one, make that and cancel the original.

I'd book it. What rental company is it with? We'll be needing a rental around President's Day next year, for pickup somewhere in Orlando, and drop off in Ft Myers, and I'd like to take a look......

That's a great rate for that week. We just came back this President's Week and I had a full size with budget but they upgraded us to the Escape free of charge. My rate was $188 and I booked it back in Sept. I kept lurking around thinking I would find a lower rate but they just kept going up. Some companies even ran out of cars. One rep I talked to at Budget couldn't believe the "low" rate I had gotten.

Stick with the reservation you have now, you'll be happy you did.

I went ahead and booked it. It was through Budget. I thought that seemed to be a good rate for a holiday week. :)

That was a good idea. It looks like you are gettting a great rate for booking so far in advance. Nothing beats planning ahead (except for a spontaneous last minute trip... lol)!

I put about over 10000 miles on a couple of escapes a few years back, they are actually great vehicles - that's cause they are more Mazda than Ford.
