Is this a good price to fly?

I have been checking airfares EVERYWHERE and it seems like the rates have been a little high. I checked with Disney and I can add the same flight that I saw on expedia and orbitz. I will save a little bit of money because there is no booking fee. I have until 5pm today to make the payment to Disney if I want to keep the airline tickets. I ended up getting 3 roundtrip tickets for myself, DH and DD for $584.70 which comes out to be $194.90 per person roundtrip. We will be fliying on Delta and it is a nonstop flight. We will leave RDU in NC at 12:15pm and get in at 1:55pm on May 28th. Returning we will leave Orlando at 1:18pm and arrive home at about 3pm. My question is is this a good pirce for what we got or is there somewhere to get it cheaper? This is the frist time we are flying as a family so I thought that I would ask. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :flower:

OK. I tried to check, but you don't give the return time. However on 5/28 SW has fares as low as $76 each way, but the departure times are later. It looks like it comes out to about the same. (SW had some cheaper fares, but they appear to be pretty sold out. So it wounds like $194 is not too bad.

Did you check the same flights on Delta directly? Sometimes you can save a few bucks that way. www.delta.com

My thought would be to buy directly from the airline, I think that would leave you in an easier position to obtain vouchers if fares dropped. Not sure, just my thought.

Hi! A couple of questions; when are you flying(oops, you did say when you're flying!) :confused3 and what airline? Generally speaking, when we fly out of BDL (CT) on Song, I consider anything under $200 a reasonable fare. Lately, the past few trips we have gotten fares in the $176 range RT/PP. In our situation the better fares for Song come out about 5 - 6 months ahead of our travel dates. This coincides with Southwest releasing their fares for the same market.

That said, if you are further out than 6 months, I would wait another month or 2 and check back regularly with your airline of choice for better fares. If you are in the 3 - 4 month window, you probably should go ahead and book. JMO
Good luck!

Adding a thought here too......

With the huge increases in fuel costs ahead, I do think fares will be increasing. I would grab a fare now, at whatever you think is a good one, then check back periodically with the airline website to see if fares drop )don't think they will) and if so, get a voucher from airline for a future flight.

Thanks guys for your help!

ok...I went to Delta and it is more than what I am paying at Disney. I didn't give the exact time coming back and I goofed on the leaving time on my orginal post but it was only by a few minutes. Here's all of the correct info:
May 28th--leave RDU at 12:15pm
arrive at Orlando 1:53pm

June 3rd---leave Orlando at 1:18pm
arrive RDU 3:03pm

I checked with Delta and I found the same flight but they wanted $210.90 per person for a total of $632.70. If I get it from Disney I will spend $194.90 per person for a total pf $584.70.

I have checked all over at places like orbitz, expedia, travelocity, southwest and the major airline sites and they all seem to be more for the times that we need to fly.

I think I will just get my airfare from disney. Thanks guys for all of your help. I really do appreciate it!

I booked my tickets with Delta and noticed two days later the fare dropped $60. To make a change on each ticket they charge a $25/change fee. I was able to salvage $35/ea. on two tickets. I'm a little bummed about it but at least I have an assigned seat. :sad2:

Last year we flew Southwest but had to return on a Monday to get the $49/one way fare. I will still fly Southwest in the future. I was just trying to earn more skymiles with Delta.

Vivianne, You have the flights you wanted and you got back $70.00 when the fares changed...I think you did great!!
Have a wonderful trip,
Debbie

Sandy,
You were looking at the wrong price on delta.com. The flights you mentioned are $194.90, and you get 1000 bonus miles for booking at delta.com. Look for delta flt 6289 and 5512.

Thanks! You make me feel better. I found out about the drop from this board which caused me to call about the credit. :)

I just searched on delta.com and the same flight numbers came up and the price listed says $210.90 per person. I did it a couple of times and I got the same result. It is not coming up for the price that you listed going from RDU to MCO. Did I do something wrong?
