What are your thoughts on this senerio??
If I buy the bulk of our points at SSR with a resale. Say 200-220 points at $78 pp
And because I love BLT as well buy 160 there directly with Disney to get the $14 off or a free cruise.
Can you request with Disney to have the same UY as the resale UY that you purchase. Or you get what you get?
Does this sound like a ridiculous amount of points for a family of 4?? :confused3
is there a link to where people discussed what a good deal looks like on resale?
Thanks!

if you close on the SSR resale first, you would have the option of treating the BLT purchase as an add-on (you would not have to pay closing costs and you could subdivide it into smaller/50 pt contracts if you wanted, or only purchase 100 BLT pts or whatever). as an add-on, it would have to be the same UY month as your SSR contract.

if you want to buy the 160 BLT pts regardless - you would have the option of choosing whatever UY month you want. (having different UY months would mean having two different banking windows and having more difficulty if you wanted to pool pts from the two contracts to make a reservation at 7 months. it's a bit of a hassle.)

keep in mind, though, that your SSR pts can never be used to book BLT until the 7 month window. the same is true for trying to book SSR with your BLT pts...you'd have to wait till 7 months.

SSR resale $78 per point? Try $68 per point or lower.

If you purchase a resale and wait for the 2 months or so for it to close and for you to be added into Disney's system and then add on directly with Disney, they will only sell you the same UY unless you purchase at least 160 points and specifically request a different UY. If you want to purchase both at roughly the same time, you will need to ask if Disney will sell you the UY that you want. If they have points available in the UY, and assuming that 160 points meets Disney's minimum purchase requirements for BLT, then that purchase will go through very quickly and your BLT contract will be your master contract. You should make sure your SSR resale purchase is titled exactly the same way as the BLT contract and make sure everyone in the process knows you are already a DVC member and want the SSR resale contract to be set up as an add-on to your SSR contract. Otherwise you risk that Disney doesn't notice you are already a member and sets it up as a separate master contract.

Just be aware that in the home resort booking window (11 months from check in until 7 months plus one day from check in) only home resort points can be used to make a reservation. In other words, if you want to book BLT 11 months out, you can use only your BLT points for that reservation. Once you are inside the 7-month window, you can use your SSR points at BLT, subject to availability. Since the bulk of your points will be at SSR, just be sure that you would be happy staying there if you want to book a room for a busy time of year and discover there is little to no availability at the other resorts once the 7-month window opened.

Right now, with the incentives, if you buy the 160 BLT points after you close on your SSR, and are doing it as a member, you will qualify for $16.00 off the price of BLT.

Right now, members get $8.00 off PLUS an additional $8.00 off (in lieu of the cruise) if the add on is over 125.

Disney will give you the same UY that your resale contract will be. Right now, I don't believe there are any sold out UY's for BLT, so you should have no problem getting what you want.
