I was debating between the CR and the poly for our next stay....I wanted to try CR but my girls werent really interested in it....the deal breaker for us was that the garden wing doesnt have balconies :(
we like to sit outside while our girls are in bed!

is that a dealbreaker for anyone else??

back to poly I think (for now anyways!)...it could change!

For the prices Disney charges for a Deluxe, I would want a balcony too. We have been using them more and more on each trip someplace. Haven't been to a WDW hotel with a balcony yet, but am excited for our BWV Boardwalk View this summer.

Not all rooms at Poly have a balcony either, so be aware of that when booking! Many longhouses have 2nd floors with just windows, no balcony.

No, not a deal breaker for us. if it is hot summer and buggy, we would not use it anyway, but now our kids are older, and we can head elsewhere if we need some downtime of our own.

There are LOTS of rooms at the Poly that don't have balconies. So if it's a dealbreaker for you, then you might want to go back to the drawing board and look at BWI, YC, AKL, WL or GF.

We've always had a balcony at all of the deluxes we've stayed at and I never really used it until a couple of years ago when I had my first stay at AKL with a savanna view. I now love sitting on the balcony early in the morning as well as for a few minutes at night before going to bed. With that said, if there was a resort I really wanted to try, not getting a balcony (or the possibility of not getting one) would not deter me from staying there. As the pp said, there is the possibility of not getting a balcony at the Poly. If you are ok with that or your request would be a room with a balcony rather than a specific longhouse, your chances are probably good for getting a balcony. Good luck.

As mentioned above, not all Poly rooms have balconies. But, at CR all ground floor Garden Wing rooms have a patio which is nice, and ALL tower rooms have a balcony. We have 3 small children so this issue is a big one for us. I'd suggest that wherever you book, make sure you make an appropriate room request.

It would be a deal breaker for me. I love having a little private outdoor space at Disney. I sit on the balcony or patio all the time.

I love a. Balcony too, but as others mention, do your research at poly. We requested Tokelau because all floors in that longhouse have balconies. And at cr you can request a patio.

No. we just booked 2 Garden Wing rooms at CR for summer. We plan to be int ehparks until closing, so location to MK was more important than a balcony. Plus, we got a great discount on the rooms, so garden wing it is!!! If our kids were little and went to bed early, it would be nice to have a balcony.

We stayed at the poly for our first onsite stay this year and loved it. We requested balcony and tokelau and loved it. had a
great view!!

I would love to try CR because with discounts the garden wing rooms are cheaper. We arent going till next year but trying to budget now! lol

We know we want monorail for sure as we will have three kids under 6, one only 17 months!

The WL has no appeal to me at all. being from Canada it actually reminds me of great wolf lodge and our area and we want to get away from the winter when we come! lol.

Keep the thoughts coming. I love hearing peoples opinions on this!

Hoping for 35% off like this year and then I can talk DH into half onsite and half with his family!

do you mind me asking what you paid?

Yep, deal breaker, which is why I don't stay @ the Poly, because the one time I stayed there and requested balcony, I didn't get it.
For the same reason I stay YC rather than BC.
Contemp.'s theme has never appealed to me, so I have no interest in staying there - do like (or did like) having dinner @ California Grill and watching Wishes, tho.'

Yes, it is a deal breaker for us too. Early morning, mid-afternoon for a little people watching, evening for a cocktail... We love the outdoor space.

For us, the balcony is like another room, albeit a small one! :goodvibes
