We are in the preplanning stages of a trip to DL. Our kids have been to WDW many times and love love love it. But they have been asking about "Walts first house" and can they go see it. I think it would be a good idea but I'm lost at how many days to alot. We would go in August. Typically we stay at WDW @ 10 days which is perfect for us because we can't seem to get alot done. Generally we're able to do 3 -4 rides in the morning, go back and swim or nap and then 1-3 things in the evening. I let them go at their own pace (no commando stuff yet) and usually do a late night or early morning every few days (don't want cranky stressed out kids). Any suggestions?? I was thinking of arriving in Calf spending 4 days at dl in a DL Resort then leaving doing 3 days at Legoland,San Dieago Zoo, Universal or Seaworld. Coming back and doing 3-4 at DL in a different DL resort and going home. Total trip 10-14 days. Comments?? Suggestions??? I have AAA so I could book through them to get enchanced FP. What phone number do you call for DL resort reservations and DL dining?? Thanks for the info! PD to all :wizard: pixiedust:

PS Any other recommended planning sites??

Another long-time WDW attender here; my first trip to DL/DCA was last March, and I loved it! There is MORE to do here at DL than there is a MK in WDW. More rides, more to do. After you've been at DL, you'll feel cheated because of all that is NOT at MK in Florida. Over the past few years, several things have disappeared from MK, never to be replaced. Who knows why? But it just isn't the same park that it used to be. From the minute you walk into DL, you'll realize that there's more here. :thumbsup2 That said, I would think that about 4 or 5 days tops is sufficient for you to see it all. Think MK and MGM but expanded with a lot more rides and attractions. Your children will adore this place. I loved it so much that I'm planning a second trip this August!

Thanks Disney Fool . Did you have any planning sites you found helpful in addition to here of course!

Somethings I can see your kids loving in DCA: (We just did a day with our 4 year old and 2 year old grand kids)

Monsters ride

in the Animation studio is a lot of interactive things to do inside but the best thing is Crush

Aladin Show is really great!

In the Bugs land area is a lot of rides geared specifically for the little ones

The pier has a carosel, a water play area, several small kid rides

the redwood trail is great play area. Only the rope part has a height restriction, its a big place and you dont need to do the rope part.

we saw the electrical parade and caught the other parade as it rode by us. Both were great for kids.

The smaller ones might like play house disney
maybe muppet 3D if they arent scared

theres more too in Disneyland.

We were at DL in December--stayed at Disneyland Hotel (loved it!) for 5 nights. We didn't have a rental car, stayed on property, and did both Disney parks. It was absolute heaven. I felt we could've stayed a few days longer and still enjoyed ourselves very much. My kids (DD12 and DS8) have been asking to go back there.
So yes, I think you will find plenty to do for 10 nights in that area and have a relaxing vacation.
Have a great trip! I'm envious! :sunny:

This site gave me a LOT of info; plus Mousesavers.com, and the official Disney website (disneyland.com). I hope you have a great time. First thing I did was purchase my 50th anniversary gold ears, had them engraved, and marched up Main Street, happy as I could be!

I'm planning our first trip to the west coast for next year. Here are my current bookmarked planning sites, in no particular order: (The Dis Boards are by far the best though :) See Mary Jo's posties at top of Board)

Oh... and I like looking at the Build-a-Bear website. I'm planning on giving gift cards for the store to my daughter's as their birthday presents.

Happy Planning! :surfweb:

Thanks so much for the help. I think the kids would love to be able to leave their hotel and walk into the parks. I ordered the planning DVD so they could watch it and start planning.
