Is there Covid in your circle?

My assistant was one that got it and she is also a foster parent. Because she tested positive, she lost her foster kids. Just heartbreaking.
This is insane to me. So they moved the kids to another home, to expose the new foster home?? I'm a foster parent. In May they wouldn't let my son go to VT with us to camp on our own property. They had a blanket ban on travelling. I was so mad because they found it safer to leave him with another family rather than let him drive the 4 hours to VT and be completely isolated on a mountain (I ended up staying home with him).
The only times we have had exposures are due to being a foster family. DCF was letting the siblings and family members (so 4-6 different households) take their masks off and eat during visits at the mall. Thankfully they put a stop to that now.

Another friend got a positive result yesterday. He has a sore throat and some fatigue but is mostly fine. I saw him on Saturday when he was asymptomatic (we had masks on) but I'm still nervous, so I cancelled my dinner with my parents tonight and I'll be isolating until I can get tested on Saturday.

Thankfully no. We did come close twice though. The parents in another family were exposed to co-workers who tested positive. They had to quarantine until they received negative tests, thankfully they never tested positive.

Just outside our circle, DD16, both of her her best friends moms tested positive. Interestingly both moms are nurses at different facilities. The rest of their families remained negative which was good considering friend 1,was with us at Halloween and DD was with friend 2 during Thanksgiving break.

My aunt and uncle, mid-80's were almost paranoid with their precautions until my aunt needed a "simple medical procedure" and ended up bringing Covid home from the hospital with her. Both she and her DH are hospitalized now. Their DD and son-in-law were helping post op, and even tho they wore masks they're both positive as well, but their symptoms aren't nearly as serious. My aunt is responding to massive amounts of oxygen. My uncle who has had heart/lung problems for years, now has pneumonia.

I'm so sorry. I'll pray for their full recovery.

No one in my immediate family nor my mom, sister and her fam, or brother and his fam have gotten it. But we have all been very careful and have only gotten together with one family at a time, outdoors, distanced. Our kids have continued virtual school.

I know of a neighbor who had it but they were very careless and allowed their children to go to parties and large gatherings since early spring. It wasn't a question of will they get it it was when.

That's terrible. I have been feeling as though hospitals and clinics are among the cleanest places. How awful to get it from there.

I got tested yesterday morning and got my negative result this morning. 🎉

I know a lot of people who have tested positive in my world, but in my immediate circle, just my sister and brother-in-law. They are over three weeks into it. My sister has recovered her energy level, but is left now with no taste/smell. She's really starting to get concerned at this point, but her doctor said to give it more time as it does return for most people. My brother-in-law had a tougher go of it, still has fatigue and headaches, but neither had to go to the hospital.

We *think* my brother-in-law had it back in March, but that was when testing was so scarce that he couldn't get tested because he wasn't in a high-risk group. He was treated as though he had it (told to isolate, family had to quarantine), but no official confirmation that's what it was. Other than that, I know quite a few people who have had it including my aunt's family (my uncle was hospitalized for several days), neighbors, former co-workers, friends in other states, etc. but nobody in "my bubble" has gotten it. Crossing fingers that it stays that way.

Entire house had it in late February of last year when it wasn’t mainstream. We all had a good chunk of the symptoms except the no taste/no smell. Went to urgent care, negative for flu and strep. Doc had no idea and assumed upper respiratory infections. After full dose of Azithromycin and a steroid I was good as new outside of a lingering cough. I know a few family members and a neighbor who had it said it was like a sinus infection.

So far the closest CV19 has been to us is thru my husband's work. A co-worker's GF tested positive however the worker was never positive and in December eleven workers tested positive from the main branch of his company, a different site than him and our son work. I have been WFH since March but my husband, eldest daughter, SIL and son are deemed essential due to their manufacturing jobs. In August we went to NY lake district wineries for a brief mid-week break and November we spent a week in WDW. Will be interesting to see if the holiday festivities change anything. Right now there's a guy from their work site that is very sick but so far not CV19 positive.

This is extremely judgement! Covid seems to be very random in who gets it and who doesn’t. My family has been like your neighbors “careless” in your words. We’ve been going to large gatherings, all working in person, hugging and visiting with lots of family and friends and none of us have gotten it. Yet my moms roommate who is in her 80s and very careful and hardly leaves her house got it. I actually though I’d probably had it and had been asymptomatic because I was in a home unmasked with a family who actively had it. I never got sick but suspected I was possibly one of the lucky asymptomatic people. Nope! I donated blood a month later and was negative for antibodies. I’ve done everything “careless” as you say and haven’t had it, while this other woman I know did everything “careful” and she got it. She recovered just fine btw and was never severely sick.
I’m so sick of the judgement! Acting as though those who have gotten it somehow deserve it because they weren’t as careful as you! Everyone has their own comfort level. My comfort level is very high. I don’t judge those with low comfort levels and I’d appreciate not being judged for my high comfort level.

Thank you for saying this, this is my thoughts exactly. This happens a lot not just on here but a lot of other places as well. People are very judgmental when someone handles all this different than them. My comfort level is very high as well and I’m not gonna shame people that disagree. I had a friend get yelled and cussed at while at a big box store for not wearing a mask by another customer. There were countless other shoppers in there with out one as well. But this man chose our friend who had with her 8 year daughter with her to yell at.

Yes, my sister and her family, but thankfully they were mild cases! Multiple co workers, family members, and friends have had it. Only one actual acquaintance that had to be hospitalized. But yet I do know of friends who lost someone close due to Covid.

This is an illness fraught with uncertainty. Personal comfort levels have nothing to do with it. Can anyone here truly say that they would be comfortable with giving it to someone who dies from it? I very much doubt it. That’s the real risk, not just contracting it but spreading it to someone who either dies from it or has a long, difficult recovery. This isn’t taking risk for oneself; it’s recognizing that the virus acts differently from person to person and accepting that one’s risk may hinge on another’s behavior.

I know people who died from it early on. I don’t want that fate to happen to anyone I know.
