Is there Covid in your circle?

3 of my circle friends got it. While I was on vacation in Disney. They went to hear a band play and 2 of them still have not told me and told the one not to tell me but she did. My Best friend thousands of miles away got it and her mother died from it took everything I had not to hop on a plane out there.

My son, DIL, and two grandsons had COVID19 in November. Mild for the kids, not so much for the adults.

No, I don’t know of anyone who’s tested positive.

I had a very very bad cold that was in my lungs for a few weeks in January/February. It was so bad that I could only climb two or three stairs before I’d have to stop and catch my breath for a minute. I was sick for about 6 weeks. Part of me wonders if it may have been Covid even though we didn’t have any reported cases in the city until March or April.
I'm pretty sure my husband had it in January. He had an awful cough that lasted a really long time, headache and a fever off and on. He went to the dr a couple of times bc we had a disney trip planned. He was tested for flu and something else, had chest xrays which showed something in his lungs, but not pneumonia or anything they thought was serious at the time, was given antibiotics and an inhaler and told he was fine to travel. But again, this was before cases were being widely reported across the US and before they were testing for it. I don't think Covid even crossed any ones mind yet when he was sick.

My BFF's whole family had it around thanksgiving. Youngest daughter had it 1st and passed it around. She's in my kids grade. About 8 kids were quarantined then.

Where I work, there have been 125 staff members that have tested positive. 19 current cases. 12 or so patients. I have not had it yet. We get tested every couple of weeks and then for 2 weeks daily with the rapid tests after Thanksgiving and Christmas. In fact, I go today. I have had to go to work this whole time and have been grocery shopping and everything as normal, and my kids have either been in school or in daycare this whole time. With just normal hand washing and wearing a mask, I've been able to avoid it.

A coworker's son was in the ICU with covid in early November. Coworker continued attending holiday gatherings with masks because "god will keep her safe". Then she got covid and exposed everyone on her floor before testing positive. My office is 8 floors and about 120 employees. My floor is the only one without a positive test and we have at least 10% of staff who've gotten covid since late October. Young people wanting to have a fun Halloween has triggered an outbreak like nothing I've ever expected in our community.

Yes. My junior in college had it in early November - mild symptoms lasted about a week and she was able to isolate at school where they provided her with meals and support. She has fully recovered. Also a co worker's entire family just had it. He isolated in their home as much as he could and was negative until the very end of their quarantine, when he tested positive.

No one in my first circle as in my family and closest friends.
One in my second circle, not-as-close friends & acquaintances. One of my friends had it a few weeks ago, mild form.
Two in my third circle, a colleague and a classmate had a mild form in March/April. No hospitalization for these two, but both reported a lot of fatigue.

And then several people in my indirect circle, people I do not know directly but are in the first circle of people I know.
As in, recently the father-in-law of the colleague passed away, her husband was in the hospital for 9 days. The grandfather of a friend passed. The teacher of a friend's kid had it.

My brother had it very early on in the spring. He's in his mid-30s and in reasonably good shape with no comorbidities...he had a rough couple of days but is mostly fine now, though he says if he works out too hard he does get sort of winded faster. He's donated plasma I think 3 times since his diagnosis and still had antibodies as of November 28.

A month or two ago, it went through my aunt's (my dad's sister). Per my dad, they were still having family get togethers like everything was normal. My aunt went to the ER a few times but was turned away because she wasn't sick enough...she's recovered and has since tested negative. My uncle was in the hospital for awhile, as was his mother. His father passed away from it. I know others on that side of the family had it as well. Not sure if they have any lasting effects.

My mom tested positive for it 2 weeks after Thanksgiving (after that side of the family got together for Thanksgiving 🤦‍♀️) and had symptoms (headache and sore throat) but then got an email from the hospital a couple of days later saying the result was a false positive.

A teacher at my son's daycare had it at the end of November. Thankfully it did not spread to anyone else and I was impressed with how they handled it.

If by circle, you mean people you let into your house without masks, then no.

If by circle, you mean people in general you are friends with, then yes.
Four separate members of a family from our church have all gotten COVID at some point since March. The daughter of a church member also has had COVID. I'm sure there are others. Other families have had contact with COVID positive people at work.
I thought of the question in terms of everybody I know, near or far, that I consider "my people". My bubble is just DH & DS and my coworkers. I haven't been in face-to-face contact with anybody else socially for a good month. We've got many friends and loved ones here and in various provinces across the country. None of them have had it. We've been very fortunate at our church - there's been one case of a member diagnosed but the person had not been at church for some time prior. I don't know who it was exactly; if it was somebody I am close to, I would.
Yes. Family, friends, coworkers and coworkers spouses. None of the cases were caught from each other. Everyone has had mild cases, thankfully.

Seems that it has really hit my area of south Jersey a few months ago and it’s really going around. My hospital says we will hit another peak in 7 weeks and our numbers are already at what our peak was in the spring.

I knew no one that had it in the spring. Everyone I know has caught it after September.
Just curious about this statement - how could you possibly know?

No one in our immediate circle, but my husband's grandmother, aunt, and uncle had it. His aunt and uncle have recovered but his grandmother passed away-she was 90 and caught it at the nursing home she was in. My boss had it in April, but luckily I'm working remotely. I also have acquaintances who have had COVID, and all have recovered.

Timing of when everyone caught it and when they were last together.

I misspoke though. My mom did catch it from my grandma. They live together.

For myself and my friends, I caught it in October and none of my friends caught it. I quarantined and didn’t see anyone. 3 weeks later one of my friends and her whole family caught it. It was confirmed her DH caught it from a friend of his. My other friends haven’t had it.

My brother caught it from his boss in September. My aunt got it from her job in November and passed it to her family. My other aunt and her DD just tested positive last week and they believe her DD got it from school and passed it along to mom. Her husband is negative.

My coworker caught it from her son who caught it at school in October. One of the docs I work with caught it from a patient also in october but he wasn’t around the other coworker so they didn’t get it from each other. One coworkers husband got it from his job last week. She has been negative and working from home. Another coworkers husband caught it last week from his job too. Her and her kids have tested negative and she’s working from home too.

No one in my bubble has had it. We are all extremely careful as there are a couple of high risk members.

Many of my coworkers or their family have had it. Quite a few have been hospitalized and 1 has died. I live in Tennessee though and these people can't stop going to restaurants, church, weddings, funerals, etc. Very glad we are working from home. I don't care if we ever go back (wishful thinking on my part).

Lots of people in our immediate circle but not from each other as they occurred at different times and in different places. We went to the lake house of one of our closest friends over Labor Day. The husband got sick while we were there and isolated but at that point we were all exposed. His wife never got it and they slept in the same bed the whole time. The 3rd family there (husband, wife, adult child) all got it, my family never got it. Other close friends (family of 4) all tested positive but only 1 had symptoms. They have no idea where they got it. My aunt and uncle both had it. They are in their 80s and were sick but both recovered fully. My great aunt has it (in her 90s) in a long term care facility but she has no symptoms. I think they regularly test residents there? Another close friend's daughter (one of my daughter's best friends) came home from college with it. She had no symptoms either and just got tested so she could go to work. No one else in the family got it. The most recent one was my son (married, lives across the country) came down with it the day before Thanksgiving. His wife came down with it the day after Thanksgiving. She was due with their first baby Dec. 11. They both got pretty sick. He recovered faster than she did. By the time she went into labor Dec 7, she just had a residual cough and the fatigue. She still tested positive when they admitted her to the hospital so they were quarantined in her room. After a 45 hour labor ending in a c-section, our grandson was born. He was fine and never got it.

Our circle is the 3 of us in the home, our college kid, and our adult DD/SIL. DH and I work but his office is mostly WFH so he's one of just few in the bldg. Most of my students are online. Knock on wood, none of us so far have had it.

Outside of that, we know several who have had varying cases with a few hospitalizations or deaths. SisIL and family, niece's family, neighbor's adult kids, friend and her entire family caught it from the grandchild, teacher in my building, different teacher's parent, husband's coworkers, etc.

The three is us(me, DH and DD22) were all recently diagnosed. Mild symptoms...I think I may have got it from work(childcare) but not sure as we had two work family members test positive and were quarantined before I was sick. We think maybe one of their children were asymptomatic, maybe. Luckily holiday breaks are happening now so we're closed and so far no one else has been sick. We are all feeling much better but the fatigue alot of you that have had it are talking about is no joke. I did some light cleaning yesterday as I didn't do much while I was sick, and I was soo exhausted by 7:30. I felt like it was midnight and I was ready for bed. LOL I was sick first, DD next, followed by DH all in a week....DH definitely had the hardest time but thankfully we are all much better now.

My uncle and my grandma who live together and another uncle and aunt who live next door to them were all positive. All minor cases as well but my uncle did end up in the hospital for a couple days because he has a bad heart and he was having weird heart rhythms while he was sick. They are all recovering now.

A few friends have had it throughout the year...again some were mild, some were hospitalized but all have recovered.

My dad has a cousin and a friends mother both passed away just this past weekend. Both older people but healthy with no preexisting conditions.

We have adopted the same attitude. When we get fatigued by it all we just try to remember we don't want to ruin all the effort we've put in so far to keeping ourselves and others we come into contact with safe as possible.

This is why I'm so annoyed we ending up getting it now. We're doing soo good this whole time and no we get it. 🤦‍♀️

Yes. BIL and DH's BFF both had it in July. They work together, so it was not coincidental. BFF had "allergies", BIL was pretty dang sick - took a full 2 weeks, high temps, breathing issues, etc.

DH's other good friend just got over it...only had loss of taste.

My 2 nephews (ages 11 and 13) had it in September. Nobody else got it (5 other kids, 4 other adults exposed).

All people we see regularly, so it's a bit unnerving.

Our circle is tiny, so no.

I know six people who had it, including two family members, but they are not anyone we have had contact with since early March. One of the family members is an in-person teacher and the other is a healthcare worker. The teacher is still struggling with symptoms (40, healthy, works out 5 days a week) and the health care worker is doing well (in her 50s, mildly healthy and active). I will miss seeing family this Christmas but we are staying home.

So incredibly good of him to donate, I'm reasonably sure this will be the only way to save my life if I end up with it.
