Is there anything you needed that wasn't there...

during your stays? We will be staying in a one bedroom at BWV, in a few weeks, and I'm starting to think about what we'll need to pick up at the grocery stop. For instance...does DVC provide salt & pepper? Stuff like that...that, in the middle of cooking or eating, you went to get, and it wasn't there. Is there a web site I can go to, listing everything that is in the kitchen? Cooking supplies, eating utensils, etc... Thanks! :D

I believe the member guidebook has the list of what is in each unit. I know the old ring binder did. It might also be on the members only web site.

All the kitchen utensils are provided, and if it isn't, you can call housekeeping and they will bring it for you.

As for salt, pepper, etc. We always bring those with, since I don't recall them being provided. They do provide a couple packets of coffee and some small sugar packs, but that is about it.

My DH is the coffee drinker. If he is only making half a pot of coffee, each morning, will the coffee they provide last three mornings (I'm assuming housekeeping replenishes that on your trash & towel day, correct?) or should I bring more coffee? How about filters...do they provide them or should I bring them also? Thanks! :D

We always bring some aluminum foil & a couple extra bars of soap. I like to have soap to wash my hands at the kitchen sink. They usually only have 1 bar of hand soap in the bathroom and there are 2 sinks. No salt or pepper. They used to have tea bags but not anymore.

Here's a list of items provided:

The coffee they provide is in the pre packaged filter packs, so it is for a full pot. If you bring your own coffee, you will need to bring the Mr. Coffee type filters as well. We usually do a grocery stop at Publix after we check in. I don't like to pack too much of that stuff, but I have small containers of salt, pepper, sugar and laundry detergent that I alwasy pack for our DVC stays. The rest we purchase at Publix.

If you plan to buy ice cream, bring an ice cream scoop.
If you want salt & pepper but don't bring them, Publix has a nice little salt/pepper set for $1.

When we were at BWV in this past May I found that they only gave you a couple of sugar packets. I wished that there were some ketchup and/or mustard packets too ......Oh and there were a few salt / pepper packets....maybe left from the previous guests???? I would rec that you buy these things before you get there. Can you buy ketchup packets? When your there for such a short time it seems such a waste to buy a whole bottle of ketchup and mustard......Oh well! at least they are not too expensive!;)

Have fun!

I've taken salt & pepper all 3 years but there has been some (3-4 sets!) in the cupboard each time. Apparently everyone buys those cardboard dispenser packs and then leaves them behind. I'm not taking any this time.

Aluminum foil is a good item to take along. I borrowed some from the Flying Fish last spring. They were most gracious about it, but I'm packing some of my own this year.

A cork screw is something not provided, if you're a wine drinker.

We take coffee with us, as well as the basket-type filters. The coffee packet in the room is not even worth mentioning. I definitely appreciate having great coffee every morning. The Bakery coffee on the Boardwalk isn't bad, though.

Muffin tins might not be provided. I can't remember & we're planning to make popovers so I'm taking some disposable aluminum ones along.

Have a wonderful trip.

don't forget the detergent and fabric softner for the washer/dryer. I like the tablets.

I had to buy a bottle brush for the baby bottles.

We did have a corkscrew in our room - but not a good one.

We didn't have a cork for the wine bottle - I now own one from the Screen Door with a Mickey head.

We brought good ground coffee, filters, half and half, sugar, salt and pepper, eggs, cheese, bottled water, milk, cereal, laundry detergent. That is pretty much what we used. We brought a lot of other stuff, but didn't use it. We didn't bring dryer sheets, they went on the list for next time. You will need enough shampoo and conditioner as well - T&T day is too far to get you through on one of those little hotel bottles.

Provided was dish soap (liquid and powder for the dishwasher). A number of sugar packets, as well as sugar substitute (the blue stuff and the pink stuff) (but not enough for us). No creamer (but we don't do powdered creamer anyway). One pack of laundry detergent (if you are like me you can get two loads from it - I never use as much as the package says).

You may want to check out the grocery lists at DVC Member.com. Had I realized how "reasonable" the prices were and how few groceries I was going to use, I would have packed the few we needed in a suitcase, ordered some bottled water from netgrocer, and skipped the grocery stop.

You're on vacation. Quit cooking and go out to eat. :p

Plenty of great places to eat, and exploring the various resorts and trying them is some of the best fun.

The kitchen should be relegated to snack use only! :wave2:

Seriously, we always have a bag of various things we take, you can easily grab extra packs of salt, pepper, sugar, ketchup, mustard, etc from the fast food joints during the year. Stick them in a heavyweight ZipLoc bag and they only take a little room in your suitcase. Throw them away when you leave, and use that suitcase space to bring back an extra souvenier!:hyper:

"If you plan to buy ice cream, bring an ice cream scoop." good tip from ericthewise..

Silly me after all these years I just thought the Uri Gheller had been staying in the unit before us, as all the big spoons were bent. :teeth:

I like to pack Ziploc bags in various sizes. They come in handy for leftovers, collecting "treasures", holding ice for a bump, wet swimsuits if pool hopping and countless other uses. I think I will include a few disposible Glad containers for next time too. Also plastic wrap.
