Is There Any Insect/Bug You Will Not Kill?

I don’t kill anything that makes its way into the house. I’ll catch and release whatever I can or, if it’s too fast catch (like a housefly), I’ll open the door and try to shoo it out. If I find something like a spider or stink bug in the middle of winter when it’s dead cold outside, I just put it in my houseplants and let it winter over until it’s warmer outside. I’ve even been known to vacuum around the occasional basement spider so as to not disturb them — I figure if they’re finding enough to eat that they can survive in the house, then I should probably let them stay and continue their public service.

ETA: Except for that fruitfly infestation I once had in my compost bin. Those guys met an unfortunate end with the vacuum cleaner attachment.

I kill anything that is in my house except for ladybugs. Those I will catch and release outside. I wouldn't kill a butterfly either, but I have never had one come in my house. Anything else is getting squashed.

Insects can have the Great Outdoors but not my house.

Except for daddy long legs, ALL spiders will die. As will all roaches, cambelback crickets, earwigs, mosquitoes, sliverfish and those horrible long legged centipede things (anyone know what they are called?). Flies, ants, beetles, moths and ladybugs will get ushered out of the house if I can as will regular crickets and regular centipedes and mosquito hawks. If we get an ant problem, then it's easier to kill them (those traps or spray).

Mosquitoes, moths and fruit flies are murderable although moths are a messy kill. Everything else we try to catch and release. At our cottage we have a vacuum type bug catcher that doesn't harm and is mostly used for spiders.

Last night I made my daughter do a catch and release with a spider. I gave her the tools: a small tupperware container and a sheet of paper. I also opened and the door for her and slammed it shut once it was pitched out the door, tupperware and all. This morning I collected the goods, san spider, from the back deck.

I was taught by my Irish grandfather it was bad luck to kill spiders in the house
So it’s a catch and release program here

I grew up believing it was against the law to kill a preying mantis. (Intentional misspelling).

Any insect inside my house is subject to being killed or caught and released outside depending on the situation and my mood.

Insects outside I generally let be.
So did I and it wasn't until about 5 years ago I learned that was an urban myth!?!

Stinkbugs in the house get picked up in a tissue and flushed down the toilet. Centipedes get squashed if I can hit them before they run away (those hairy buggers are fast!) We get a lot of wasps in the house in the spring, usually I catch them and throw them outside.I think the wasps must winter in the attic with the stinkbugs.

Outside only ticks and mosquitoes that land on me and Japanese beetles on my flowers get killed. Oops, forgot about the yellow jackets that nest in the ground and sting us. They get sprayed.

If I saw one of those inside I'd fumigate the house!
ESPECIALLY if I saw one of these feared Domo spiders!

I just generally try to steer them in another direction. (I hate killing insects -- ugh!!)

We have our yard sprayed every 2 months, so we don't have many bugs come into the house.
I try not to kill the crickets, and moths.
Roaches are gone!! Flies get swatted.

I don't kill spiders anymore and try and release them outside, because I know they try and kill other insects.

Stinkbugs., I don't kill them because they stink if you do. I suck them up in a bug vacuum, and dump them into a jar filled with soapy water. They drown in there, then I dump it in the woods.
I don't kill ladybugs, butterflies, or daddy long legs.
Anything else is fair game, especially bees (wasps as I am allergic to them) and other spiders

Generally will kill what gets inside the house or what comes from the basement (that's usually house centipedes and I only kill them when they get upstairs-basically I don't seek them out).

When our house was first built we had giant daddy long legs. I really didn't kill those especially because they stayed close to the ceiling anyways and they haven't been seen for quite a while.

I don't always kill spiders it sorta depends on what they look like.

Outside the only thing I'm willing to kill is a copperhead snake and moles (and voles if we had them but we've only had moles). I've only enountered 1 copperhead since living here and it was coiled up, I just left outside and went back inside and after a time it went away. I'm not interested in killing outdoor wildlife for the most part.

My cat is good at catching things that we don't always see (fruit flys that get inside, house centipedes, other spiders, other flys) and I can't always help it if he finds an insect and eats it (though at times he plays with it so I'll kill it out of mercy lol).

Yes, many. I don't kill house centipedes, yellow house spiders, ladybugs, lightning bugs, and moths/butterflies.

I think it goes without saying that butterflies and dragonflies don’t get killed..

Everything else is fair game. ESPECIALLY ladybugs.

I try not to kill anything...BUT...ALL spiders must die. We must kill them, kill their families, and set their webs on fire. Period. Oh and mosquitoes. They are the debil.

Would not harm a butterfly inside (have never had one trapped in my house) and I leave the occasional lady bug alone, release him outside, or put it on my houseplants. Otherwise anything else inside is fair game - hate bugs or insects.

Things outside, with the exception of Japanese Beetles (which I hate) I normally leave alone and get away from.
