:surfweb: I was just wondering if anyone knew whether or not there was any advantage to booking through a travel agency? I booked our last trip to WDW through Small World Vacations and was considering doing that again, but don't think there is any advantage other than giving them the business. The money would be the same and I don't think there are any perks. Any advice? Is there any reason to book with WDTC? I had booked with SMV because I was hopeful that a discount would come out and they would apply it to my reservation, but no discounts for my dates were ever released.

As a part time travel agent I would of course advise you to use a travel agent. It will cost you (or should not!) any more and you help to pay the bills of someone who hopefully be your personal planner. When I book someone I babysit the reservation until my travel returns. I include personal requests and sometimes when possible behind the scenes magic! No matter what you are in for a WONDERFUL vacation but if would be great if you included supporting the hard working travel agents! Feel free to ask any other questions!

The advantage to SMall World Vacations is that they WILL keep abreast of any codes or sales, etc. Booking through WDTC won't get you those, UNLESS you call persistently and keep asking.

I have done both, and have gotten good deals both ways. If you don't mind doing your own homework, making lots of phone calls to WDTC and being pushy about them finding you a better price, then I'd say go that way. It's good to check on this website and mousesavers.com for any special deals and codes and then call right away to apply them to your ressie.

If you're booking a Good Neighbor hotel, however, I'd deal directly with the hotel if I were you.

:flower3: Seattlebusymom- I was leaning towards giving the nice gal from SWV the business just because I feel good about knowing I am helping someone specific. Not that those who work for WDTC aren't worthy, just that I like the girl I dealt with and would want to give her the business because I'm sure her job is commission based, right?

I don't know what extra "Magic" she can offer me, but I'll take what I can get! What were you referring to... anything specific?

It is nice to not sit on hold with WDTC!
