Not staying at a Disney hotel this trip but would like to check in and check our bags so we can go to Universal for half a day. Is there an alternative?

There is no baggage check in at the airport other than DME (and to utilize the baggage transportation, you need to have the tags on your bags before you fly).

As far as transportation, there's:

Car Service
Rental Car
Mears (?) Maybe, not sure.

Not sure if you mean on arrival or departure. Arrival, you'll need to collect your bags and drop them off at your hotel. On departure, I'm not aware of any other resort that uses RAC.

Yes. The same company that provides Resort Airline Check-in for Disney also offers baggage services for your arrival and departure days. Not surprisingly, these services are not free.

If you're renting a car anyway (which is usually a necessity if you're staying at a non-DIsney hotel), I would just rent a car with a big trunk so the nobody at the Universal parking structure will see that you have luggage in your car.

We are looking for another airline check in service to use on our day of departure same as the Magical Express where we can check in for our flight and get our boarding passes and check in our luggage.We are staying in a Villa and they have no bag storage available. I checked the travel made easier website and you have check your bags at the airport which kind of defeats the purpose.

You would not check your bags at MCO.

For your arrival day, Bags VIP Luggage Delivery is similar to the inbound Disney's Magical Express baggage service. You would check your bags at your home airport, bypass baggage claim at MCO, and have your bags delivered to your hotel.

For your departure day, Remote Airline Check-In is similar to Resort Airline Check-in. It's offered at Rosen Centre, Rosen Shingle Creek, and the Orange County Convention Center. Unlike Disney's Resort Airline Check-In, Remote Airline Check-In is a paid service, so there should be no reason to restrict it only to hotel guests at the Rosen properties. Of course, you should check with them. Rosen Centre and the Convention Center are fairly close to Universal.
