Is there a running track on the Disney Dream?

I was planning on doing the Castaway Cay 5k....but was wondering if there is a track on the ship where I can do some running.

Does the Disney Dream have a running track on the ship itself?

While the ship doesn't have a lined running track, Deck 4 has a full loop that can be used for running. It is not a shock absorbing surface like most running tracks. Pictures will show a planked pattern, but the surface is NOT wood. 2.5 trips around the ship equals 1 mile.

:( that's disappointing! I was looking forward to taking walks around the track with my DS, but I don't want him (or me) exposed to second hand smoke. "Smoking sections" that expose non-smokers to smoke annoy the #%^* out of me! If a smoker chooses to contaminate their lungs, FINE, just don't hurt those of us who do care about our health! UGH! Rant over.

I've run the track several times on several different cruises and never run into that. It's definitely possible, but don't avoid it on the assumption that it always happens. Where you do have to be careful is where it goes into a maintenance area because it goes inside and there can be CMs there. I personally find it an interesting area and always try to look into the doors if they have them open as the inner mechanical workings of the ship interests me.

What I always find amusing is that I designate deck 4 as the deck where people pretend to be reading. The deck chairs are often filled, usually with people who have a book (or now with Kindles and iPads and tablets). They start off reading but it's such a nice protected area, where you can watch the sea and it tends to lull you to sleep. So you pass all of these people with their books (or tablets) laying down on their chests snoozing as you run past. I know this to be true as I have often been among their numbers. It's a great place to go after you've done your run, showered and then you too can pretend to read but catch a nap after your exertion.

Thank you. :)

Yes, I've done that on other cruise lines (fallen asleep on the chairs on the track after watching the sunset). It's a very peaceful place.

It's actually not true wood either. If it was real wood then it wouldn't be as slippery.

Just for reference, 2.5 laps is a mile. 8 laps is a 5k. My first full day on my first cruise I walked 10 miles, in flip flops, to burn off nervous energy.

I know this thread is about the Dream, but I'd thought that I'd mention that on the Magic and Wonder, it is 3 laps/miie

There is also an exercise room with treadmills. You can look at the ocean while running.
Tx for the suggestion. It's just a personal preference of mine.....but I find it hard for me to run a couple of miles on a treadmill. Even with a ocean view, I need a change in scenery when I run.

I have had very good luck on the Dream/Fantasy tracks first thing in the mornings. There are usually a few people out there with the same idea and pretty much nobody else reading, snoozing, shuffleboarding or otherwise in the way, other than the occasional CMs working on the ship. Never had any trouble with a slippery deck, even if wet, so don't let that scare you away. I rather enjoy the dining aspects of DCL (imagine that!), so if I can force myself to get up in the morning and hit the track for a little while, there's a little less guilt later in the day!
