I've run the track several times on several different cruises and never run into that. It's definitely possible, but don't avoid it on the assumption that it always happens. Where you do have to be careful is where it goes into a maintenance area because it goes inside and there can be CMs there. I personally find it an interesting area and always try to look into the doors if they have them open as the inner mechanical workings of the ship interests me.
What I always find amusing is that I designate deck 4 as the deck where people pretend to be reading. The deck chairs are often filled, usually with people who have a book (or now with Kindles and iPads and tablets). They start off reading but it's such a nice protected area, where you can watch the sea and it tends to lull you to sleep. So you pass all of these people with their books (or tablets) laying down on their chests snoozing as you run past. I know this to be true as I have often been among their numbers. It's a great place to go after you've done your run, showered and then you too can pretend to read but catch a nap after your exertion.
