Is there a running track on the Disney Dream?

I was planning on doing the Castaway Cay 5k....but was wondering if there is a track on the ship where I can do some running.

Does the Disney Dream have a running track on the ship itself?

Yes, it basically circles the outside of the ship. It's not marked like a track, but it is open for running. You might have to dodge some people who are walking, playing shuffleboard, or lounging, but the track is plenty wide for running.

I've had to dodge employees cleaning the deck. Also, there's a smoking section on one side which was difficult for my lungs one morning.

Thanks for all of your responses. I am hoping to have some time to do some running during the cruise.

There is also an exercise room with treadmills. You can look at the ocean while running.

:( that's disappointing! I was looking forward to taking walks around the track with my DS, but I don't want him (or me) exposed to second hand smoke. "Smoking sections" that expose non-smokers to smoke annoy the #%^* out of me! If a smoker chooses to contaminate their lungs, FINE, just don't hurt those of us who do care about our health! UGH! Rant over.

It's actually limited to certain times and I don't remember them being outside of really early or later at night.

It's not a true running track like on other ships. Deck four loops around the whole ship, but the floor is wooden and I find it slippery if it is wet. This video shows the entire loop.

Many people don't like the dreadmill. I only use it as a last resort.

And then there are those of us who view it as a necessary tool and refuse to put negativity with it by "renaming" it.

Can't lay negativity on someone's personal feelings about it. Sorry, but I hate the thing.

That's how I felt when someone renamed LGA as LaGhetto in a few posts. It is a necessity at times and doesn't need any more negativity associated with it.

Only a "necessity" if you refuse to change airlines. And I'm sorry, but wing B of the Central Terminal is a fire trap. God forbid anything happen where you have to evacuate because people are going to die.

Now back to the running track. :)

Major issue was kids playing shuffleboard--they have no inkling that those sticks they are waving around could put someone's eye out as they run by. We've had 2 close such encounters--.

Yeah...I have yet to find an ideal time. Early and the decks are wet from cleaning and can be slippery. Mid-day and you've got to run the shuffleboard gauntlet. Evening and night and you've got the smoking section. You just pick a time, be aware, and go for it. :)

I called the machine dreadful NOT the people using them. Any exercise is better than doing nothing. Some people do great with them and some do not. Some people like to watch the ocean while running inside. Some people prefer the smell of the ocean and the sound of the ship sailing through the water so they run outside.

As far as referring to places as a ghetto....just not cool. I'm sure most of the people on this board have no clue what it is like to live in one. I do. I lived in one as a child. Fun times.

It's actually not true wood either. If it was real wood then it wouldn't be as slippery.

Just for reference, 2.5 laps is a mile. 8 laps is a 5k. My first full day on my first cruise I walked 10 miles, in flip flops, to burn off nervous energy.
