Like at the airport? Or do we need to lug it all into a checkin desk?
Hopefully I can work this so DH can drop our luggage, DS10 and myself at the port then go back to check in the Avis car and get himself on a shuttle (thanks again Dave)
But would I need him to help me get the luggage checked in at port? Tip a few dollars?

There are tons of porters curbside at the port, the DCL staff will direct you to one when you pull in to drop off your bags.

I always tip them a couple of bucks per bag. :)

If you do the Avis shuttle to the port, a person will be waiting the moment you get out of the van to take all your bags (it's nice to tip them), and then you can just walk across the street with your carry-on & documents. The bags will be waiting for you in your stateroom later in the day. Very simple & efficient process! :D

yes.....VERY simple and efficient.....in both directions....also when getting off the ship...
a porter met us right at the bottom of the escalator and took us straight to our luggage and then straight to our car parked in the lot....it couldn't have been easier....

I usually tip the porters at the pier a dollar a bag...

We usually tip the Avis driver around $5.00. The porters both of embarkation and debarkation...2.00 a bag. Just like your servers on the ship...this is the only wages they make.
