Is there a PIN Limit?

This may have been addressed before...but is there such a thing as a limit to how many pins you get?

My 1st two trips in May I got the 40% pin, then I got one for a 3rd trip in November that I wound up having to cancel.

So I waited patiently for my May pin. Nothing. Even went on and saved some vacation offers, hoping they'd get my smoke signal - nothing.

Does Disney stop giving them once they think you're "hooked", or did my cancelling my trip break my lucky streak, or is it really just TOTALLY random?

I think it's totally random. I go to WDW several times a year and have done everything people here on the DIS suggest for getting a PIN (save trips on their web site, registered my email with all their web sites, order planning DVDs, call to see if I might have PIN in my file, do all the surveys, etc) and have NEVER received a PIN. I'm happy for those that get the PINs but don't think it's fair that people like us that go several times a year and have tried everything never get one. Because I have an AP and go several times a year I guess Disney thinks they have me hooked, so don't need to send me a PIN.lol

I think there totally random.

Up until last year I never got a pin. We have AP's and have always used the AP discount. I had booked a September 2010 trip. Got something like 8 pins, used one of the pins but ended up using the AP because in was 42% off our trip.

Rebooked for May this year when we returned. Did get a couple of e-mails but nothing we wanted to use. The general pubic discount was better 35% off. Three week after changing to the GP rate got an e-mail for an AP Pin for 40% off, switched to the AP pin.

Have not received anything since.

I got a ton of PINs last year and didn't end up using any of them as the AP rates ended up being better.
I haven't gotten any so far this year. Luckily my friend got the free dining one so we were able to use it.

And, FWIW, the distribution of PINs is not completely random, but it is based on criteria that none of us know.

It isnt really that exciting. They havent been that good. We are staying at the BC in Oct. and I got one that is for values and moderates, I got one that was only good in May, one good for the summer and the last one I used it was I think 20% for the deluxes but water view only. I basically got the water view vs the standard for free.

I still would like to see a 40% room rate I just hope I didnt use up my allotment for pins!

I got three PINs in one day (3 different emails) and all three were the 35% off values and moderates and 40% off deluxe and deluxe villas.

No one really knows what triggers the PIN's. However, they definitely seem to be targeted deals. You normally stay in a Moderate? They may tempt you with a Deluxe Villa pin code. Or you normally come during the summer? They may temp you to come during the slower winter season. Their demos show that they have an abundance of young professionals booked during a time period and they know you are a kindly senior citizen couple, they may want you to come to help even it out. Things like that. You come ever year but haven't been booked your trip yet? They may send you a PIN to get you to come down yet again. Stuff like that. Now obviously Disney needs to know about you to target you when they want to. Be it signing up for their DVD, answering their surveys, whatever. If you get one, use it or lose it. I wouldn't count on getting another. You may, but there is no regularity to them.

I have already booked my trip for July using a pin they found for me under my son's email.
At the time there was 2 pin codes attached to my email but not for the time we were going.
Since booking I have received 5 more free dining pin codes all to the same email address for the same time I am booked.
one of those was just this morning!!
And one snail mail with the same free dining pin. Up until this year I had never received a pin in my name.
It seems that if they have this many pins to send to one person, why not send some of them to people waiting that never get any!!
