Is there a package where you pre-pick all your rides?

A friend of mine just told me she booked a trip to Disney for her family as part of a longer vacation. She is not a lover of Disney at all and only taking her kids because they want to go. She could not even remember what resort they are staying at. She said she called and talked to someone, told them she needed a room for 6 people and wanted meals included. She said she already has all her rides set and the trip is in July! I of course questioned that as it's way early for her fastpass picks and she could only do three. She said she got papers in the mail that she filled out picking what parks she wanted which day and which restaurants and which rides they wanted in each park. She thinks when she gets there she will get a complete itinerary of where to be when and not wait in line for any ride. Is this possible? Is there a package you can buy and get that service? She said they are spending $5800 for two nights 3 days.

Is she staying Club Level? That sounds like the form you can fill out and the concierge staff will make the reservations when the time opens. They're not advanced reservations, but when the windows open for dining and Fast Pass, the concierge will make the reservations and let her know what they were able to book.

Or she is using a trip planner like my boss did. She gave the planner all the info on who was going - ages, sex, etc - and the planner did all her reservations and FPs and had a schedule set up for them. Of course, she paid a lot of money for it, but she thought it was worth it for them.

Sounds like she's doing a VIP tour to me.

Definitely sounds like a VIP tour at that price.

I agree that it sounds like a VIP tour. That is some serious cash! I am going for 12 days and 13 nights and am not even paying anywhere near that amount, but I am only going solo and staying at the value resort.

@ $5800 for 2 nights with meals and (I assume) 2 day tickets for 6 people, could that possibly include a VIP tour? I'm a DLR regular and a VIP in July (high season) would be close to $4000.00 at minimum.

My goodness!!! I definitely wouldn't spend that for 2 nights, though I do hope she has a great time. :)

I think her challenge is the 6 people. I'm in this group -- it's hard to find a room. Values sleep 4, Deluxes sleep 5. She's looking at 2 rooms or a suite. Suite, DDP for 6, and Tickets for 6 for 3 days adds up. For kicks I just ran a GF suite, DDP, and tickets, and it came out to $7170. That's rack rate, so she's doing better than that. And I only figured DDP. Maybe she has DxDP. I could see adding up to $5800 for a family of 6 easily. I don't assume she's doing Value... sounds like she's getting red carpet service, so I read that as Deluxe Resort and either DDP or DxDP.

But that doesn't explain how she thinks she is going to get on rides with no wait. It could well be that she booked what you are quoting through a travel agent and is misunderstanding and thinking she will get on rides with no lines.

The only way she gets ride access with her choice of rides is a vip tour.

It's probly just like the others said. A TA/Planner saying to pick out the rides and she'll hook them up type of thing. I didn't read "access to unlimited rides" in the original post, just pick some and the TA will work out the details.

I'm not going to try to run the numbers but I agree that this sounds like one of two things

  • they are getting a VIP tour guide

  • they are using a TA and may not totally understand or are being over sold how FP+ works and not realize the TA is only going to setup 3 or 4 rides per day.
Or they are really going to US, staying in a US hotel and not realize US is not WDW. :)

ETA not sure why my second point is highlighted

$5,800 for 2 nights? Wow. Is it possible your friend is full of BS?

I find I can't handle talking to people who don't love Disney that are planning trips to Disney about their trip plans. It makes me twitch.

What's the going rate for a premium vip tour $325 an hour. You could burn through that 5,800 pretty quick. That's of course if thats what's happening here.

Yes this! When I asked where she was staying and she said that she basically didn't care enough to remember and just went with what the Disney agent suggested when I agonized for weeks in choosing the best resort I couldn't believe it.

I tried to explain the fastpass process to her and she was adamant that she had picked all her rides and that she was paying whatever it takes to not wait for rides she doesn't even want to go on. I asked if it was a VIP tour and she had no idea.

She got annoyed with me so I stopped asking questions. I guess I will have to wait until she gets back to know.

If you know whats good for you don't ask how her trip went. She somehow blame you if it goes bad.:crazy2:

You know since you're the expert :)

I hate to be a negative Nancy, but I am fully expecting for her to come back and say it was horrible, a waste of money, she hated it and have a multitude of other complaints. Brace yourself!

I don't think that price is high enough for the VIP tour for 3 days, sounds more like Club Level imo. I think she is in for a shocker lol.
