Is There a New Resort in DVC's Future?

Like all the other thoughts here mine is just opinion, but I also think you'll see something in California in the near future. Guess that depends on the interest they had in the DL sales push. As far as SSR goes it's not likely they would have started phase III if it was not selling. Phase III adds a lot of points that a lot of golfers are going to want, but selling out by the end of 2007 seems awfully ambitious.

The original prediction (per the 2004 annual meeting) was that SSR would take 7 years to sell out. It's been 3 so far.

FWIW -

Hubby and I took the SSR tour Friday May 5th- our guide is Gib McCain but something came up and he wasn't available so a very nice lady named Susie walked us thru.

She definitely said SSR was close to selling out - I got the impression she meant what was currently built (ie not phase III), hubby thought she meant the entire resort -including what hasn't been built. But the sentence was definitely said.

Susie was nice but I was dissappointed that we didn't get to meet Gib. Gib understood that we would not be buying at this time, (Tim, my hubby, is leaving for a tour under Iraqi Freedom soon) that we absolutely could not and would not make a commitment to DVC until he's headed home. OTOH since we were vacationing at WDW it seemed silly not to see SSR. :teeth:

Susie pushed the sale more then I expected once we brought her up to speed on our situation. I do understand that their jobs are to sell, but we're already sold we just wanted to see the resort. :p

I was very happy to hear her emphasize that DVC is NOT a real estate investment but a way to prepay room accomodations - I think that is a good move on their part.

When we purchase an SSR DVC interest in Spring 2005 our guide told us our deeded unit was in the process of being built - Phase II. Units are being sold as they are being built. That would tell me they are doing pretty well.
