last week i reserved the contemporary with an ap rate for april 2-9. i got my confirmation letter in the mail today and it said i had to pay my one night deposit by jan.24 and pay the remaining balance by march 12. i never ran into this before, i always paid my remaining balance at check in. we have been there 4 times this year with our last trip 6 weeks ago and we always paid at check in. did disney change their policy or is this a mistake???thanks

We have reservations for the 1st week of February and were asked and have paid only the 1st night for a deposit with the remainder to be paid either by express checkout or at the front desk of AKL at the end of our stay. There was once a time some years ago where we were asked to pay with a deposit and then the balance a couple weeks before our stay, but it was because we paid with business checks. If you used a credit card, I'd call WDW and ask them "what's the deal?".

Are you sure the reservation is confirmed, or is it a courtesy confirmation (need to pay by a certain date)?

I just booked for our June vacation and initially had a "courtesy confirmation" as we were still iffy on the dates. I did not pay a deposit for the 1st night and was told that the confirmation would be held for me until the 30th. When I called back to confirm that reservation and confirmed that the room only reservation had the following (it did):
1) pay 1st night on confimation
2) pay balance on check-in
3) refund for 1st night up to 5 days before check-in

I would give Disney a call just to confirm everything.

They sometimes make this mistake, they key it as a package. I would call and confirm.

This happened to us. We made reservation in October and put deposit down. Received conformation saying payment was due, I believe, Jan 13th. We are leaving 2/5. I called on this, and they told me to disregard it. It was showing my reservation as a room only package and that is why it generated that way. I was told by 2 different CM's that payment would be due at check in....needless to say, I am a worry wart and paid it ahead of time. I actually had wanted it paid ahead of time anyway...so it was ok. :cool1:

We stayed at Pop Century last year and the same thing happened to us.

I charged the deposit (1 night's stay) while making the reservation. We later received the confirmation asking us to pay by a certain date.

I called Disney back and they said not to worry about it...that I could pay when I arrived. I made sure to get the CM's name and as much info as I could from him.

Of course, I was nervous about it....so, I called after my date had passed and everything was ok. It worked it fine for me....

I would just call them and make sure to get a name if they tell you not to worry about it.....

speed :teleport:

We had the exact same problem....In our past trips, we paid one night as a deposit, and the rest was due on arrival. Our conformation now states that the $ is due weeks before we arrive. I have been assured that the $ is not due, but I will be calling to confirm that the ressie is still in the computer, after the fictious due date.

Has anyone recieved an incorrect due date, not paid and checked in without a problem? That's what the Disney rep "Chandra Lee" says will happen.

I made reservations in Nov 04 for our stay 3/5-3/12 @ the All Star Movies... I just had to pay for one night, and the rest is due upon arrival. They said I could make payments if I want too, but it's not required.

We had this problem too. Hubby just called to check and it was a mistake. We can pay the balance at check in.

I'm glad to see posts on this. Same thing here...made a ressie on the phone for room only in June and paid one night's deposit. Then got confirmation by mail saying we have to pay the balance three weeks prior to arrivea... "no additional notices will be sent." Way confusing and weird to me! I haven't called back yet but probably will now. We usually pay off the balance ahead of time anyway so we don't have to deal with it when we check in/out. This year we want to be able to use all the Disney Reward Dollars we can with our card so we might pay it off even earlier to ensure we are rewarded all the necessary dollars! :p

Same here in March 04 at AKL, and just got our WL confirmation for March 05 and asked to pay in advance again. Wish they could straighten this out!

"As long as it is a 12 digit reservation number you pay at check in" is what I was told when I called.

That is happening to us right now.

We have a room only reservation for the end of April. We have paid about half of it already. Now they keep sending me the confirmation letters saying my remaining package is due by the begining of April. I have gotten 5 of these letters in a week!

I keep calling them & they keep telling me it is their mistake & to ignore it. Our remaining balance is due when we check out of the hotel.

The CM told me today it is because we have the AAA discount on the room, it is to "encourage us to pay early".

We have a reservation at the CBR the week of March 23-30 and we have a letter stating our balance is due at the beginning of March. I'll have to check this out. :flower1:

We got the same message - if you are persistent, they will send you a conf that states "Balance Due at Check-In". I just was not wiling to risk it, so I would not get off the phone until they agreed to send the new conf. We received it 2 days ago. Good luck.

Just to chime in, we got the same "mistake'" confirmation. I called and was told not to worry.

thank you for all your replies. i feel much better now. i will call disney and staighten this out.

We booked 2 weeks ago for ASSports for Aug. When I got AMEX statement, I noticed the charged me the whole trip. This is ok with us, nice not having anything due when we arrive, but I thought they were only taking out a 1 night deposit.

I originally reserved 3 nights at the Contemporary and 2 nights at POR, and I was supposed to be charged a night deposit at each. Instead they charged me 1 night at POR and 4 nights at CR. When I called, they said that they could fix it, but I let it be and changed to 5 nights at CR at the AP rate.( I think they did refund me the 1 night at POR). I also got the remaining $$$ is due 3 weeks prior to our trip on our final confirmation letter.

My question: Is Disney running some sort of scam (okay, scam may be a little harsh)? But how many people book with Disney and when they get that confirmation letter, they send in the balance?

Sherri

We have also had that happen on ours. Called, and they said no, as long as the 1st nights deposit was in within the 1st 14 days after the reservation, the balance can be paid at check in. This is with room only, not packages, however.
