OP here with an update.

We did see a lawyer and glad we did. Even at our relatively young ages there were things we hadn't considered. A big one, is that our home's deed was in both names but not deeded TO the other, in event that one of us passes.

Yucky stuff to consider but glad we're getting it all in order. Thanks for the nudge to do it right

Wow that's a major title company screw up there to not have it titled jointly with right of survivorship!
