Is there a free way to transfer music from our Ipod to our computer?

We watched a youtube video how to do it, but when we get to one of the last steps a screen appears and states "Disc aid is needed to be purchased for $25.90. We had the babysitter load DD Ipod from CDs we had from her computer, because at that time we had dial up. Now DD has a laptop and would like those songs on her computer. Is there a step by step for windows that she/we can follow for free? Thank you. D

Did the babysitter use her own iTunes account to load those songs onto your daughter's ipod? If so, then the ipod is authorized under her account and you would need to purchase some kind of software to move that music into your own iTunes account. There are some programs that will allow you to migrate a few songs for free using their trial software.

There might be freeware out there that will accomplish this but it can contain viruses or malware and I wouldn't risk it.

My advice would be to set up iTunes on your daughter's computer, reset the ipod to factory settings (which will erase everything) and then (since you have them) rip your CDs into her iTunes account. It would be cheaper to do this than to pay for the software needed to move the music from multiple CDs.

4Media iPod to PC Transfer

you can download it free from cnet.com It's a free trial and it's clean. Down side is with the free version you can only transfer 1 file at a time. Good side is a music file only takes seconds. So it's only a bit of a pain to have to select and transfer and close the "purchase now" button for each song.

I used it when my son's computer died and I wasn't in the mood to re-rip all of the movies and music he had in his Itunes. And then I used it again when his brother's broke a month later. The trial says 100 transfers....but my experience is we were able to transfer over 200 twice.

If you need to do this with a Mac, try out Senuti. It has a 30 day free trial.

I can't post web links yet (not enough posts), but just search on senuti, or go to
fadingred <dot> com.

Good luck!
