Is there a crowd difference between June and July?

We were supposed to be going for Dapper Day in April but my girlfriend’s husband became very ill in November and hasn’t recovered yet. She is providing him with 24 hour care so we’ve decided to postpone our girl’s trip till summertime when he will likely be much farther along in his recovery.
We were looking at going June 20-24 or possible July 11-15. With Pixar Pier opening on June 23rd I’m expecting large crowds during that time but I expect large crowds in July too. Will there be any difference?
Was anyone there when Guardians of the Galaxy opened that could speak to the types of crowds you see with a new attraction. I get that the Pixar Pier area will be over crowded with hours long waits for the Incredicoaster but how does it affect the rest of the parks?

Personally, I would choose the later dates. I've found that whenever anything new opens at DLR, it can take a while for the CMs to find the groove. So you can have big crowds of curious, uninformed guests combined with nervous, not-well-informed CMs. This can make the crowds seem worse because of confusion about lines, rules, different CMs giving different answers, etc. I wasn't there when GOTG first opened, but I did experience F! reopening this past summer. Things were much better (although still crazy) after a month or two with that. After a few weeks, things should be running much more smoothly with Pixar Pier and the initial crowds who want to be there for the opening should have calmed down. The later dates also give your friend a bit more wiggle room in her schedule in case her husband has a set back and needs just a bit more time in his recovery.

We were there for Mission Breakout’s opening weekend and that ride’s line was bananas & the area around it was extra crowded but the rest of the parks seemed the same as it normally is that time of year as all the extra crowds were focused at just this one area/attraction. Hard to say if Pixar Pier will be the same though as it apeals to a different crowd & SO many people have been postponing trips til the massive amounts of construction & closures are over with & the newly rethemed pier reopens.

We had planned on going in June but when we heard the Pixar Pier news we decided to go in July instead for the same reasons theluckyrabbit gave.

I would also go in July because those June dates are right before the lower level ap’s are blocked out for summer. I’d expect a lot of them to be visiting in their last chance before fall.

If you can move the June dates back just a couple of days, I would do June. A lot of local schools don’t even get out until that week so some kids will still be in school, the weather is cooler, and I usually once July hits I want to be no where near the parks until late August. If PP wasn’t important to you anyways!

We could do that but then we’d miss Pixar Pier and the Incredicoaster. Normally, I actually try to avoid anything new because of crowds but since the parks seem to always be crowded no matter what I figured we might as well see the new stuff.

Thank you everyone for your opinions, I do appreciate them! I’d really like to go in June but @theluckyrabbit made a really good point that the later dates will give my friend’s husband 3 extra weeks towards his recovery. His full recovery is supposed to take a full year so those 3 extra weeks could make a difference. I think I’ll pick the later dates primarily because of this reason and we’ll just have to deal with the weather and crowds. Thank you!
