Is the Hollywood Brown Derby good?

We loved going to the Brown Derby and had the Cobb salad with our lunch. We were on the DxDDP and our waitress even gave us reserved seating passes to see Fantasmic that night, July 4, 2010. It was great Disney magic. The only downside is we were so full from lunch we didn't really want dinner.

We have dined here many times. I don't think the restaurant deserves "signature" classification but for a theme park restaurant, it's pretty good.

We tried it for the first time last week, at lunch. We really enjoyed it and will go back again.

DH was not overly excited about the Cobb salad, though our expectations were probably too high. I had the noodle bowl, which was delicious. DD had a beautiful and delicious Grouper entree.

LOVE Brown Derby! The Cobb Salad is to die for. :) I have never had a bad meal there!

We loved the atmosophere, the chef and server were great. DH and I really liked the mushroom ravioli appetizer we shared, and LOVED the coconut tofu dish (also shared). Despite sharing that tofu dish, and despite it looking tiny b/c they serve it in a HUGE bowl, we were STUFFED.

DS wasn't feeling 100% that day, and merely picked at his grilled cheese.

It was one of the first ADRs I booked for our second trip. :goodvibes

I love the cobb salad and banana dessert. Honestly. I've gone 2x out of 5 trips last few years. It's not a must, but really liked.

So is it good? yes :)

Went in 2003 for hubby's 50th birthday and the food was so-so (not worth the price in my opinion; hubby thought the grapefruit cake was gross and I sent my meal back twice) and the service was awful (five tables were occupied and we were there for two hours!). We've not given it a second chance as there are too many other places we want to try and that we like 100 times better.

We love the Brown Derby. I think it is one of the few Signature restaurants that has actually IMPROVED over the years. We are there in January and my steak there was better than the one I had at the California Grill.

Hi everyone!

Just made an ADR for dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby for our October trip, and I was wondering if anyone here likes it! :confused3 I never really see it talked about much! There aren't many places to eat in DHS, and we've been to Mama Melrose's twice and Sci Fi once, so we wanted to try something different! The menu looks good, and I was thinking it has to be pretty good if it's a signature!

Thanks! :)

I loved it in 2009. The cobb salad is awesome and I had some pork tendorloon thing was very good. I regret that this past March I did not go back as I was trying new places. Next time we will be going there!!!

Cobb Salad! Yum! And the Bananas Foster is to die for!
Nancy :thumbsup2

Ditto.

The food was fine for the value offered at Disney. Certainly the 'finest' meal available at H'Studios....

But if you really like Sci-Fi and/or Prime Time, I'd save my wallet for something better than Brown Derby. Then again, if you've never been, try it to then cross off of your list....

I would consider myself a foodie, and by theme park standards, the food is very good. The atmosphere is sort of a nice break from the theme park vibe, too. I'd definitely recommend it.
