Is the growth of DVC outpacing the growth of the parks?

Don't know when you are visiting but I have never waited 60 minutes for any attraction at WDW. Waited about 25 minutes for Astro Orbiter once, but that's about my upper limit. .

The question should be, When are you visiting? Because in summer, Mickey's Phil. 60 min, Buzz Light 60+, Soarin 60+. Unfortunately, this is when the children are out of school, so it's when we go. Unless we do am EMH, it's going to be a long, hot wait. The fastpasses run out by 12:00, so sometimes you have to wait in line!

I don't wait in those lines either. When I see wait times longer than 60 minutes I usually keep walking. Usually the headliners like TSM, Space, Splash, etc. Getting to the parks early and staying late helps.

For those times I'd be there at opening and use the FP or not go to the parks at all if I had any of the busy rides in mind.

Totally agree, however, when friends & family come who have never done Disney and/ or come seldom, going back to the resort isn't an option and we just suffer through it!

I agree wait times in the summer are long. However Disney isn't going to put $1 billion into a fifth gate just so that Buzz Lightyear wait times in July go from 60+ to 45+.

My comments were more directed at the slower periods. More and more I keep seeing comments from people who think wait times should be 5-10 minutes during the "slow seasons." And the further implication is that the "slow seasons" are everything but summer, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter.

I do think that Disney has taken the cost-saving step of reducing staffing on some rides, which has lead to longer lines during off-peak periods. But that's something within their control to expand far before a new park is necessary.

Beyond that, it's still far cheaper to add a whole new "land" to an existing theme park before they sink hundreds-of-millions into infrastructure for a new park. MK has land where the old 20k sub ride was located, Epcot has room for several more World Showcase pavilions, and both DHS and DAK have room to expand and add several attractions at once.

IF these type of rides were important for that day I'd hit the door to be there at opening and invite them to come with me if they wanted. Otherwise I'd go anyway and invite them to use the cell phone when they got going.

Since we have DVC we only go into the parks maybe twice during the week we are down there. We look at it as a resort to relax for a week. We go every year so we have 'been there, done that'.

There probably are some people in our slow boat.

We are changing our traveling also, instead of hitting 5-6 days in the parks, it will be more like 3-4 days in the parks and more time relaxing at the hotel.

My first WDW visit was during President's Week---very comparable to peak summer crowds, lots of states are off school that week. With a sensible plan and frequent use of fastpass, I was never in any line more than 15 minutes, and saw the headliners in every park, many more than once.

Count us in the slow boat as well. We bought DVC not just to visit the parks, but to have a relaxing get away. We usually stay 4 nights and may go to a park on one day. The rest of the time, we lay by the pool, go for a walk, or just go exploring - whatever we feel like doing at the time. In fact, we would not be going to a park at all this year if they were not having the "get in free on your birthday" promotion. :)
