Is Thanksgiving a bad time

I usually go to Disney at least crowded times, such as Sept or Jan. Will it be terrible to try to go during Thanksgiving week? We are still thinking of going the week after, but it is getting harder to take the kids out of school.

Also, if anyone knows how the week before memorial weekend is, that would be appreciated as well.

IIRC, Thanksgiving is right up there with July 4th and Xmas as the worst times to go, so you might have difficulty there. I know how hard it is to get days off, whether in school or not, but I think that might just pose a problem.

We were there Thanksgiving week in 2004. It was not as bad as I had anticipated. As long as you get to the parks for early entry/when they open you should be fine. There were crowds, but they were managable. We were there 5 days & were able to do everything we wanted. Good Luck!!!!

It's all relative but the Thurs-Sat of Tday is VERY busy. Some people don't mind it, they get there early and stay late and take breaks during the day since the hours are so long.

I, myself, would prefer the less busy time, less hours and would highly recommend the week after Tday. Even the week of Tday the Sunday to Wed is much better than the Wed-Sat, but it isn't as slow after the week after. That is the best. Figure out your schedule and then pick when to go. You can always make a vacation work : )

Just as a bit of background about myself: went in 2005 5 days before Tday and stayed until the Tuesday after (it was the busiest of the Tday trips, but I enjoyed it and the days before and after the holiday were wonderful!), 2004 was also somewhat busy, but for some reason 2003 was not for us. 2001 Tday was downright dead, no travel, everythign walk on! I was told that a lot fo people had to reschedule due to all the hurricanes, more people were there than usual for 2004 and 2005. The economy has also picked up so people are travelling more.

Don't know about TG week, but the week before Memorial Day was just fine. :thumbsup2
Weather was hot, a little humid, but overall great. As it got closer to MD, the crowds increased. The Sunday-Wed before MD weekend was the best - crowds at about a 5 or6/10. Thurs, Fri, Saturday & Sunday before MD were the worst - 8or9/10.

I've been both those times, since I'm a teacher. Myself, I'd probably prefer Thanksgiving week. Memorial Day time is less crowded, but the weather is so hot that when you get in a line, it feels like more people, just because everyone's sweating and there's hardly any air. We went this past Thanksgiving, and to us, the weather was perfect. It was probably to cool to enjoy swimming, but we don't swim. There's only one advantage I see to late May-the Flower and Garden Festival is then.
