My DH wants to use some of our TS credits for Teppanyaki, but I said we already have a Benihana in town, and I'd rather save our credits for other restaurants. Never been to either, so I wanted to find out from those who have been to both, are they similar? Thanks.

Yes, it is very similar. It is more expensive overall than Benihana, and there are probably a few differences on the menu, but generally if you like Benihana you will like Teppanyaki, and vice-versa.

The atmosphere at Teppanyaki feels more unique and "authentic" than the big-room feel of Benihana.

We love both and make it a point to go to Teppayaki every time we are at WDW. There have been recent changes to the menu due to the dining plan - namely, you used to get soup or salad with the entree and now those are separate "appetizers". At Behihana, the salad is included.

Thanks, JLS. Comments from others? My DH said, "But we don't go to Benihana..." I think I'll take him there for his birthday so I can save our TS credit, lol. It would be nice to see the authentic atmosphere in Teppanyaki, though...

We eat at Teppanyaki every trip. we lived in Japan for a year and It is much more authentic than any of the local Benihana or Kobe restaurants. We also really enjoy the CM's and the opportunity to visit with others from around the country. (one year we sat with Tony Danza) The food is wonderful and the CM's are great!
